CHAPTER 18
Hollywood Wedding
River
Nathan’s and Serena’s wedding in Hollywood was a massive event. They’d already been legally married since January when we held a beautiful small ceremony at Liv’s and Charles’ house in Dublin.
The small wedding had been Nathan’s idea. This big one was Serena’s dream wedding.
“They look happy.”
I turned my head to see my brother Atlas standing next to me.
“Yes, Serena said that she has fantasized about having this grand wedding since she was a child.”
“Hmmm.” Atlas took a swig of his champagne while I zoomed in on Serena’s bump alongside Nathan.
“Although, I doubt she envisioned having a bulging belly at her wedding.”
“I think it makes a woman look sexy. I couldn’t get enough of Jolene when she expected Rose.”
“Where is Rose?”
“With Jolene’s parents. They live in Long Beach, so we’re staying with them while we’re here.”
“You should have brought Rose with you. I don’t get to see my niece often enough as it is.”
“It’s hardly an event to bring a one-year-old baby to.”
“I would have held her.”
Atlas placed his hand around my shoulder. “Am I sensing a bit of baby fever?”
“No.” I bit my lip.
“Maximum said you met someone in Bali. It sounded like he had high hopes for you two.”
I looked away. “Well, it didn’t work.”
“Why not?”
“We live in two different countries, so…”
“That’s nothing but an excuse, and you know it. Nathan and Serena lived in different countries, and here we are celebrating their love.”
We looked toward the dance floor, where our brother was dancing with his bride among friends and family.
“Can you believe we’re in Cameo’s back yard?”
Atlas looked around. “I can’t say that I’m a big fan of the woman, but her garden is ideal for a private wedding.”
“Cameo’s music is brilliant. You don’t like it?”
“Not my style.”
To call Cameo’s back yard a garden was like calling a lake a pond. Her property was located on the California coastline and offered a beautiful view of the ocean. Serena and Cameo were close friends and had spent hours arranging this wedding with the theme of the Arabian Nights. They had hired Hollywood set designers, and every detail was perfect from the waiters dressed in costumes to the small Aladdin’s oil lamps that stood on each of the fifty round tables that seated a total number of four hundred guests.
In contrast, Lumi’s and Damian’s wedding had been a small affair with only forty of their closest friends and family. I tried to decide which of my siblings’ weddings I preferred, but each one had been special in its own way.
