“I need more, please, Dion,” I whisper, my voice barely audible amidst the chaos of pleasure that surrounds us.
Dion responds by picking up the pace even more, each thrust hitting a spot deep inside me that has me seeing stars. The pressure builds within me once again and I know I won’t be able to hold on much longer.
With one final powerful thrust, Dion growls savagely as he sends us both over the edge into an explosion of ecstasy and his teeth pierce my neck.My entire body convulses as waves of pleasure wash over me, leaving me gasping for air.
Dion collapses on top of me, both of us panting and covered in sweat. Our hearts are beating wildly in sync and dark spots dance before my vision. He pulls his teeth from neck, peering down at me, wiping my hair back from my face while we wait for his knot to go down.
When it does, he pecks my lips gently before nibbling on the bottom. When he tries to get up, I wrap my legs around him, holding him in place and making him chuckle.“I’m not going anywhere,” he murmurs but I don’t let go, enjoying his warmth now that my heat has abated and the cold brisk air is now extra chilly.Dion rolls pulling me on top of him and I notice my teeth chattering, my nipples are painfully hard as they scrape his chest.
“I’m cold.”
“The adrenaline rush is gone is the reason why,” he murmurs, tugging the blanket over me.His fingers lazily trail up my spine. He presses his lips to my forehead tucking me closer.“I didn’t think I could love you more until you made me yours,” he whispers into my hair.I lift my head propping my chin on my hand on his chest.
His gaze holds so much emotion and I feel it through the bond.It makes me wonder if all the horrible things he has done, though with reason, were simply because he didn’t want to be abandoned.First by his mother, then he lost Anastasia, and then my rejection. My eyes move to his lips, and his thumb brushes my cheek gently. His emotions overwhelm me, and I feel my wolf stir; she doesn’t fight me, she doesn’t try to take control.I think it’s more that she is shocked that the monster we’ve known has a heart. That beneath the mask is a man.One who’s loved and lost more times than I can fathom.I can’t explain it.It doesn’t make what he’s done right, doesn’t mean it can be forgiven, yet I understand it.Because right now from him, all I feel is his relief, like he was afraid I was going to be another person whoabandoned him.Left him on his own.
“I misjudged you, blinded by my own hurt.I regret not understanding the man who was afraid of losing another loved one.”His brows furrow, and I smooth out the line that creases between his eyes.“You can’t hide from me now,” I tell him, and he smiles.
“I was never hiding. You just never asked; you assumed and accused, but you weren’t wrong.I am a monster, but only when I am fighting for something,” he chuckles.“Well, mostly,” he laughs.
I lean forward, kissing him softly, his hands tangle in my hair, and he deepens the kiss, sucking my bottom lip into his mouth before letting me go.His hand in my hair moves to my cheek, his gaze softening slightly.
“Time has meant little to me until I met you, Emery.I never craved more of it because I saw an end to it.Now I fear immortality will never be long enough. With you, I see my today, my tomorrow, my forever, and I never want it to end.”
Chapter 38
The feather-light touch of fingertips caressing my skinwakes me, a sleepy smile slips on to my face as Dion’s fingers trace a path along my ribs.
“How are you feeling? Are you sore?”Dion asks, kissing my shoulder, while his hands wander, exploring.I let out a soft sigh, my body arching slightly into Dion’s touch. The warmth of his lips against my skin, awakens every nerve ending. His question lingers in the air, and I take a moment to assess how I truly feel.“I’m not sore,” I murmur, my voice barely above a whisper as I turn to face him.
His fingers continue exploring, grazing my ribs and down my side to my hip.“I was hoping you’d say that.”Dion chuckles, nipping at my jaw.
I let out a breathy moan, feeling his fangs graze my throat, and he leans in to capture my lips with his own.I pull him closer, craving more of his touch.
Dion breaks the kiss, his eyes filled with desire.“I want you,” he whispers, his voice husky with longing.
A smile tugs my lips.“I’m all yours,” I purr, tracing circles on his chest with my fingers.
His hand moves from my side to my thigh as he hooks my leg over his waist.
I melt into his touch, feeling a rush of emotions overwhelm me.
Dion’s fingers brush against my lips, teasingly.“You know,” he says playfully, “I have a surprise for you.”
Curiosity sparks in my eyes as I tilt my head slightly.“Oh?What kind of surprise?”
He smirks mischievously.“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you now,” he answers cryptically.
Unable to contain my excitement, I pout.“You can’t say that and not tell me,” I whine.
“Well, he did.Great, now I wanna know, too,” Elara my wolf growls.I shudder feeling her press beneath my skin, but she seems calm enough, she isn’t fighting me for control, so that’s something.
Dion chuckles and leans in closer, “Your wolf is just as impatient,” he purrs, nipping at my lips before his lips travel down my jaw.
“Is it edible?”Elara asks, and I try to shove her back, but now she is intent on trying to guess what this surprise is.
“No, but Emery is,” Dion answers, my wolf’s thoughts making me wonder how much of us he can hear through the bond now.“Everything, every dirty little secret, thought, I can now hear it all,” Dion chuckles and my face heats.
“Well, in that case, she likes the twisty thing you do with ya tongue,” I roll my eyes at my wolf.“Considering not long ago you bit him like a savage, now you want to be his friend?”I ask her.
