“I knew I should have gotten a broken-in whore instead. It’s not that difficult to enjoy my cock.”
“Please,” I forced out, feeling my ribs scream. “Stop.”
He grabbed the back of my head, pulling me to the wall where chains hung from the ceiling. I struggled against him, fighting him, but he was stronger than me and I was already so tired. The chains were tight against my wrists as he tightened them until my joints were being pulled almost out of their sockets.
“I’ll do the honor of breaking you.”
“Breathe for me, baby.” Caterina’s voice soothed me.
“Worthless cunt,” I forced out as the memory slammed through me like a semi-truck. I clawed at my chest, feeling his hands on me. “You’re nothing but an expensive whore.”
“Who is it?” With a shaky hand, I pointed to the man across the room. “Michael Hass,” she gritted out. “He’s a state representative.”
“H-He wanted me every Tuesday and Thursday. It was after Vincenzo let me be used by everyone. The first time, I barely turned eighteen. H-He wanted to break me. H-He d-did a lot. H-he liked sexual torture. Nipple clamps so tight it felt like he’d rip them off. E-Electro play.” I ran my fingers over my stomach, feeling the taser on my skin. “If I didn’t moan or scream his name, he’d electrocute me. One time, after I got used to the abuse, he shoved a stun baton inside me. I never felt such misery, even Vincenzo raping me the first time didn’t feel like that.”
Caterina’s fist clenched, and there was anger flashing in her eyes so dark I leaned back. “I’m going to deal with him. Every man who has ever hurt you will pay.” She pulled out her phone. “I need the van and Elizabeth. No questions, just get to the restaurant.”
“Caterina, you don’t hav?—”
She lifted her hand, silencing me before slipping her hand under my chin and lifting my face to her. “No. He hurt you. I promised you, every man who hurt you would pay. I intend to keep that promise.”
“I—thank you.”
“You never have to thank me for protecting you. Can you keep your panic at bay while we talk with his wife? I want to see the fear in his eyes when he recognizes you.”
I nodded. She stood, taking my hand in hers as we walked to their table. “Mrs. Hass?” she greeted the woman. She was a beautiful middle-aged woman with blonde hair pinned up in an elegant bun with a few curls hanging down and framing her face. Her eyes were kind, but even the sweetest eyes could hide the darkest secrets. “My name is Caterina Moretti. I’m sorry tobug you, but I wanted to applaud you for your work with sexual assault survivors in the city.”
She was an advocate? Did she not know that her husband was a sick rapist bastard who liked to hurt innocent women? My chest tightened. “Mrs. Moretti, it is nice to finally meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you and your father. Your donation meant a lot and helped a lot of women. I understand you also help victims as well?”
“Yes, ma’am. No woman or child. No one should be forced into that life. I would like you to meet my wife. Harlow Moretti.”
“N-Nice to meet you.”
“Hello dear, this is my husband, Michael.” Caterina looked at him. His eyes met mine and they grew wide in realization as he shifted uncomfortably.
“Do I know you, sir?” I asked with no hint of fear in my voice. Having Caterina next to me made me stronger.
“N-No. I don’t think so.”
“My mistake, then.”
“My wife is a survivor herself. She is so strong and brave after the life she endured at the hands of sick, twisted men.”
“I’m so sorry, dear. If you ever need anything, please let me know. We have a support group and other resources for survivors.”
“Excuse me, dear. I need to run to the restroom,” the man said quickly.
He staggered away. I felt better seeing him falter at my sight. His wife seemed genuine. It was not her fault her husband was living a double life, raping and violating women. What was going to happen to her or her work when it came out that her husband was a sick monster? If she was truly a good person, then nothing should’ve happened to her. It was not her fault she married a devil in disguise.
“Enjoy the rest of your meal, Mrs. Hass.”
“Please, call me Melanie. Please, won’t you two come to my foundation and see the work I am doing? I would love input.”
“Of course, Melanie. And please, call me Cat. I better get my wife home.”
Instead of leaving, Cat paid the bill and walked to the back of the restaurant where the bathrooms and the back door were. There was yelling, and I stiffened next to Caterina.
She peeked through the back door. “You said no one would fucking know. That whore is talking to my wife. I’ll be ruined!”
