It didn’t add up. Raptor was one of the most powerful alphas that Walren knew. He was rich. He had a job.

Why would he worry that Walren might not sign his contract?

And why did it make Walren want to hug him?

THE MATING CONTRACT

“GuessI’ll look at the contract,” Walren mumbled, turning away.

Only for his hands to tug around something warm.

They looked down at the same time.

Howhad Walren forgotten that he was still holding onto Raptor’s knot? Raptor’s hands were snug around his own, holding him in place.

“Why do I keep embarrassing myself?” Walren whined. He wanted to crawl into a hole and never show his face again.

“Ah,” Raptor said sheepishly. Hadheforgotten, too? “Do your cute lil fingers feel better?”

He rubbed Walren’s hands slowly but firmly, enough to send a shiver down Walren’s spine. Then he slid his thumbs under Walren’s fingers, slowly lifting them away from his knot.

Walren’s hands felt chilly, suddenly. He made an unhappy sound; Raptor peered at him in concern.

“Cold,” Walren grumbled.

Raptorsmirked.“If you wanted to hold my knot all night, all you had to do was ask.”

“Th-that wasn’t what I meant!”

“Think about it,” Raptor murmured. He placed Walren’s hands on his waist and straightened both their clothes. Then he turned Walren back to the table, where the contract lay forgotten. “Have a seat. I’ll make you some tea.”

Walren braced his hands on the table to help support his weight as he sat. He had to slide out his unbendable leg, making sure it wouldn’t encroach on Raptor’s space under the table.

Then, because his hands were so close to his face, he caught a heavy whiff of musk.

From Raptor’s cock.

Walren’s face burned.Am I supposed to sign the contract with my hands smelling like his cock?

Would it be rude of him to wash them now?

Across the kitchen, Raptor scrubbed his hands and forearms with soap. Then he got a kettle going, setting out a pair of delicate teacups.

If he can wash his hands, then so can I, right?

With some effort, Walren heaved himself back to his feet. Except he remembered his unsteady gait, the way his shorter leg made him sway to one side when he walked.

Often, Walren got looks from strangers in public. He hid amongst his friends whenever he could, so fewer people wouldstare at him. Right now, there was no one for him to hide behind. Raptor could look over at any moment, see Walren’s ugly movements, and lose interest completely.

Walren gulped.Maybe I should give up on washing my hands.

He sat back down, fidgeting when Raptor looked over.

The alpha frowned. “What’s wrong?”

“N-nothing.”
