Reina smirks. “Trust takes time, soldier boy. Time and proof. I barely know you. I know Sophie loves you, but you’re her brother so it would be weird if she didn’t.” She scans me up and down. “I know you’re hella good-looking, but in my experience the prettier they are, the worse they are.”

I reach out to place a stray hair behind her ear. “Who hurt you, princess? I can find him. I know places to dump a body where no one will look. I’ve got buddies that will gladly help me.”

A vulnerable look passes through her gaze before she quickly straightens her body and takes a step back from me. She curls her lip in distaste. “Nope, soldier boy, you don’t get to analyze me. I just know better than to trust good-lucking guys with goofy lines, that’s all. I have to get to class, and I don’t think you should follow me to this one.”

Fuck, I’m totally screwing this up.

I shove my hands in my pockets and watch the sway of her hips as she walks away. I’ll prove to her that she’s meant to be mine. I’ll make her trust me. I just have no idea how.

Chapter 3

I’ve learned never to take cute guys at face value. Genetics gives people a cute face. It doesn’t do shit for their personality. -Reina

Reina

“Fuck, it’s packed in here tonight.” I glance around the crowded sports bar and wonder when they’ll finally come to take our order. I’m starving. I went for a run earlier and wore myself out. I’m not much of a runner. Just figured I could expend some of the energy I seem to have extra of lately. Ever since a hot man came into my life and started practically stalking me. I’m horny as hell, but I can’t bring myself to hook up with any of the usual frat guys that are at my disposal.

“Yeah, it’s nuts in here. At least they brought us our drinks already though.” Sophie takes a sip of her soda and then stares morosely down at the table.

Fuck Liam, and his indecisiveness with my girl.Liam grew up with Sophie and Brian, and she’s been in love with him forever, but he can’t seem to get his head out of his ass when it comes to her. I’ve thought about stepping in, but that seems like crossing a line. Not that line-crossing has ever bothered me before.

Sophie’s phone dings and her face brightens. “Do you mind if Brian joins us? He went to visit Mom today, but he’s back.”

I stiffen. Just the guy I didn’t want to see. The one that has me tied up in knots. He also has me pegged. That conversation yesterday flits through my mind. Yes, I’ve been hurt before. Hint, girls. Most guys are not like those in romance novels. Most can be lying assholes.

But this asshole happens to be Sophie’s brother. “Sure, that’s fine. I know he only has a few more days until he goes back so I’m sure you want to spend as much time with him as possible.”

Sophie nods. “I really do. He’s been surprisingly okay about the Liam thing, supportive even.”

Brian caught Liam and his sis hooking up and besides a fist to Liam’s face, he’s been fairly hands-off with the whole thing. As far as I know, he said what I wanted to say to Liam, which was to stop being a douche, but besides that he’s giving them space to figure it out. It must kill him since Liam is his best friend, but I respect that he’s aware they’re adults who need to figure their own shit out.

Crap, the last thing I need is to admire anything about him.I’m already attracted to his body. I don’t need to be attracted to his personality too.

“Hey, little sis. Hey, Princess Reina,” the hottie in question says as he slips into the booth to sit beside Sophie.

Sophie raises an eyebrow. “Princess?” she inquires.

He winks across the table at me. “Yep, because that’s what she reminds me of. She’s a beautiful princess that won’t give me the time of day.”

I squirm in the plastic booth. “You’re the one who decided to become a stalker.”

He chuckles. “Only because you won’t really talk to me, otherwise.”

Sophie looks back and forth between us. “Have I missed something?”

“Nope,” we both say in unison.

My stomach growls loudly and I chew on my fingernail. I’m getting hangry and I don’t want to meet Brian’s blue-eyed gaze because I know it will make me fall under his spell…again.

“I’m gonna go to the bar and see if I can order. I’m about to starve. I’ll order some apps for the table.” I push up from the booth before Sophie and Brian can say anything. I can literally feel Brian’s eyes on my ass.

I kinda want to add an extra wiggle to my hips because of it.Shit, Reina, control yourself.

Chapter 4

She can run, but I’m faster. -Brian
