Jennifer’s heart felt like it would explode with joy at his words as she stood staring at him at a loss for words.Sure, now you lose the ability to speak! She admonished herself.
“I’m starting to feel a little uncomfortable here,” Harley’s head lowered, and his lips drew closer to hers.
“Don’t,” Jennifer’s voice was barely a whisper as her arms reached up and wound around his neck, and his clamped around her waist. “Because I fell for you on the same day. I’m head over heels in love with you, too.”
“I don’t know if I’m disappointed or relieved to hear that,” Harley startled her by saying.
“What?” Jennifer looked at him, astounded.
“Alex offered me his yacht in case you didn’t feel the same way about me,” Harley explained. “The plan was to take you out into the middle of nowhere and make you fall in love with me.”
“After you kidnapped me and stranded us in the middle of the ocean, you thought I’d fall for you?” Jennifer snorted. “That definitely sounds like an Alex Blackwell plan. The man is a Neanderthal!”
Harley nodded. “I’m so glad I don’t have to use it, though. Because I’d much rather swoop you into my arms and kiss you until you realized you felt the same way about me.”
Before Jennifer could say another word, his lips crushed hers as the world around them faded. Jennifer knew she was where she wanted to be for the rest of her life—held in Harley’s arms and cradled in his heart.
