“We can go if you want? There’s other places to eat.” Wade keeps his voice low.
There’s a part of me that considers it.
But then I see her eyes land on us over her husband’s shoulder.
The thought of her, or anyone else with Wade sends a feeling of possessive rage through me.
Turning to him, I give him a sweet smile, then stroke his cheek with my fingertip. “No, daddy. I want to stay right here with you.” My touch winds down the buttons of his shirt until I reach down to cup his thigh, just brushing the bulge of his crotch.
His sharp inhale tells me everything.
“Elena, don’t start something you don’t want to finish,” he hisses while my thumb moves a slow circle over the taut denim.
“I should have never stopped. It drives me crazy thinking you could be with anyone else. It’s what scared me enough to pull away. I’ve never wanted someone like I want you.” I meet his eyes, unwavering.
His head shakes and his hand moves from the back of my seat to splay across my spine. “There will never be anyone else. You’re all I see.”
I believe him, because I feel the same.
“Kiss me, Wade.” I move closer, tucking my other hand between his legs.
A smirk drifts over his lips as he stares into me. “Are you asking me because you really want it, or is it to make Paige jealous?”
“Is it wrong that it’s both?” I can’t fight the grin.
He lifts his arm, tracing my chin with his thumb. His gentle touch sends a wave of goosebumps over my body. “No, I like that you want me to publicly claim you. Does this mean you trust me to take care of you, that you’re my little girl?”
“Yes, daddy,” I exhale and let my eyes fall closed.
Poking the bear
Wade
Her dark lashes flutterover her cheeks as I enjoy a moment to just take in her beauty.
Maybe there was something purposeful about me bringing her here. Almost as if I’m forcing her hand.
But I needed her to fall off this cliff with me, no more dancing along the edge to dip a toe over the precipice.
Because I tumbled over weeks ago, I realize it now.
I can’t imagine another day of coming home and not seeing her. Or feeling the warmth of her idle touch, and watching her genuinely laugh without care.
If it’s the last thing I do, I’ll die keeping that spark alive in her.
My fingers tighten behind her neck as I pull her closer. Tilting my hat to the side, fire sears through me as my mouth meets hers.
She squeezes my thigh, then parts her full lips to let our tongues dance in a heated battle.
Her soft moan signals her submission and she melts against me.
When I finally pull away, she blinks rapidly to look up with a dreamy distant gaze. “I didn’t know how badly I needed that.” She leans close enough to drop her forehead onto my chest.
“You and me, both.” Wrapping my arm around her shoulders, I tug her, chair and all, so she can nestle against me. “This is where you’ll be from now on,” I murmur into her silky hair.
“So I still won’t be seeing much of you?” Val laughs, depositing our two plates of food on the table. “I wasn’t expecting to.” She winks again before turning away.
I owe her a big tip.
