He strode off, and Zach could hear him pick up his keys fromthe tray near the front door. It opened and closed, and he heard the lock slideinto place.
Zach moved through the house that would soon be his home, contemplating the fact that when he asked Big Tag to move him fully onto theteam, he was going to tell him why he’d been assigned to the team in the firstplace.
He poured himself the last cup of coffee and switched itoff. He needed to get dressed. She would be here soon.
Would Ian be upset? Or would he roll his eyes and say healready knew and had some plan to make him a weird in-house double agentagainst his military enemies?
He moved to the hallway and saw Devi’s graceful formsilhouetted in the opaque window of the door.
Damn. He’d do it. He would pretty much do anything Big Tagasked him to because he wanted to be part of whatever family that woman was in.
He set his mug down and wished he wasn’t about to open thedoor wearing his sweatpants and nothing else. He was supposed to be ready. Hewas supposed to be on time and prepared. It was kind of his brand. Zach Reed. Not too smart, but damn the man is on time.
He opened the door and she stood there wearing jeans and acute top that showed off her midriff. She was beautifully put together.Casually elegant with a hint of “look, I go to the gym.”
She’d dressed for him, and he wasn’t even ready on time.“Hey, sweetness. I’m so sorry I’m running late. I’ll be two minutes.”
She stepped inside, and her eyes roamed his chest, a fineflush coming over her skin. “Oh, I think you can do way better than twominutes, Sir.”
She leaned in, her hand going to his chest and her mouthtilting up in invitation.
All thought fled and utter lust took its place. He lockedhis mouth over hers, kissing her like she was all he needed in the wholefucking world.
Brunch would have to wait.

One week later Devi pulled up to the private airfield andwished she knew more about this secret mission her Dom was going on. He’d toldher the bare minimum. They had a good shot at getting a bunch of information onsome doctor guy they’d been checking out. He was a bad guy according to Zach, and Aidan had an invite to his house because of some kind of medicalconference, and they were all flying into Canada.
She parked the car and Zach turned to her, reaching for herhand and pulling it in both of his.
“I don’t want to go.”
Only a few days and she was in so damn deep. They’d spentpretty much every minute of the week together when he wasn’t working. While hewas at the office, she worked on commissions. She had three right now, twocorsets and a catsuit. Being with Zach, though, had inspired her, and she’ddesigned severalfetwear costumes that would bringher Dom to his knees. She liked him on his knees. When he was there he usuallyhad his face buried in her pussy. “I don’t want you to go. I want to walk inthere and tell my uncle he sucks because we haven’t even had a second night atThe Hideout.”
He squeezed her hand. “I promise when I get back we’replaying every night it’s open. You need to think about what kind of scenes youwant.” His voice went low and that tone went straight to her pussy. “I want youto write down your darkest fantasies. Write them down and send them to me andI’ll make them happen, sweetness. All those dirty things you dream about, I’llgive them to you in a safe fashion. But I promise, it won’t feel safe.”
Yeah, she was pretty crazy about him. TheLwordwas creeping into her brain. “I should warn you that some of my fantasies arecomplex.”
He brought her hand to his lips. “I can handle it, Devi. Ican handle you.”
She was a lot. Could be a lot. She could be overly emotionaland passionate when she thought she was right. She pretty much mostly thoughtshe was right and could be super stubborn about it. How many times had someonetold her she was too much? The only reason she wasn’t considered the QueenBitch of her friends’ group was the fact that her cousin was in the group. Kalaoften made her look good.
Zach liked Kala. Liked her. Liked complex women. “I canhandle you, too, you know. I can handle this. I’ll be okay without you, and Iwon’t ask questions when you come home. This is your work. Both my parents weremilitary.”
“Not when they had you. You didn’t have to watch them leave. What if I get pulled from this assignment and deployed?”
“Then we have some decisions to make,” she replied honestly.
“I would leave. I would see if Ian would hire me on at MT,and I would be here with you. I would let all the rest of it go and see thewhole thing as fate.”
“Or I could go with you,” she said quietly.
He shook his head. “No. I want you to have the life youwant. I don’t think you can find that on a base, and if I’m out in the field wewouldn’t even see each other. We’re lucky it’s all short-term assignments rightnow. If it gets worse, I’ll look into pulling that lever. If I hate leaving youright now, how am I going to feel in a couple of months?”
“You might be sick of me in a couple of months,” she pointedout.
He leaned over and kissed her. “I won’t.”
