"Ugh, come on, you're playing dirty." He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "You left some, right?"
I nodded, glad he was feeling a bit better. I headed toward the door, ready to leave.
"Hey, Lucero."
I froze in place, too nervous to take another step.
"Thanks for today. I didn't know I needed it. And thanks for the food. Oh, and?—"
"No need to thank me. We're family." I yanked him into a hug before he could protest. Much like the first time, his body went stiff as he stopped breathing. I didn't hold him for too long, making sure to keep the contact short. A few hours with Adam and I could tell he wasn't one to like touch too much.
"See you later for the lessons. I left my number in your phone. Call me if you need anything."
"When did you do that? And I told you I don't know how to teach."
I waved at my new brother who was going to be my teacher. Pretty soon, I was going to be able to talk to Onyx in his first language. I could picture his surprised face now.

The soft click of the front door roused me from my sleep. My back was stiff. I hadn't slept on the couch since the night Onyx finally let me into his bed. I’d gone soft. His heels clicked against the hard flooring as he made his way in further. I forced my eyes open and swore I saw an angel as I looked at my husband. "Hey, baby." The dress he wore clung to his body, making me mad I'd missed out on seeing him in action today. "I've missed you." The moment Onyx was within range, I snatched him closer and peppered his face with kisses.
"Lucero." My name falling from his lips was a sweet elixir I'd happily take part in every single day.
I grinned, letting my heavy eyelids drop back down as I snuggled up with him. My entire body felt lighter the moment I had Onyx in my arms. It was like everything was right in the world again. "You were out really late."
Onyx moved a bit in my hold but not once had he tried to escape. We both knew if he wanted to, he could easily slip free. He placed a light hand over my bare chest where my spider tattoo rested. His delicate fingers skirted over my flesh, sending tendrils of heat down my spine. Onyx was single-handedly forcing my tiredness back and it was quickly becoming replaced with lust.
"I warned you… Did you wait up long?"
I grunted, pulling him closer. I couldn’t get close enough. There was the annoyance of our flesh and muscles. If it was possible to melt into one, I would have done it already. "I'd wait an eternity for you. You're worth it."
"Stop talking before I pull your cock out and sit on it."
A chuckle worked its way free even as my cock twitched in the confines of my pajama pants. "Did you miss me?" My hands wandered up and down his slender body. I wanted to touch every single inch of him and commit it to memory.
"What are you, a fucking octopus?" Onyx pushed at me as if he was trying to put some distance between us.
There was no way in hell I was letting that happen. His scent was intoxicating. I dragged my nose over the column of his throat and behind his ear.
"That tickles." Onyx slapped the back of my head, dragging me from the last bits of sleep that had clung to me. His brows were dipped low, but try as he might, the corners of his mouth kept tilting up.
"Why are you sleeping on the sofa?"
A yawn worked its way free. "Was waiting up for you." I'd missed him all day. Who was I kidding? There wasn't a moment when I wasn't missing my husband. I felt empty, like an endless void carved out my chest whenever we were apart.
"Tu serais l'homme parfait pour moi, si je n'étais pas ce que je suis. Tu es si nécessiteux et pathétique dans tous les bons sens."
A groan worked up from the deepest parts of me as I kissed his neck again. "You know I love when you speak French to me."
Onyx's soft laugh eased a small knot in my gut. "You don't even know what I'm saying."
"I'm working on it." I licked my lips. With Adam's help, I might finally learn French, but it wasn't as if I hadn't been trying prior to meeting him. I cleared my throat, trying to get the jumbled up words in my head to come out smoothly. "Je t'aime tellement. Je te mettrai enceinte." My French didn't come out nearly as smooth and fluid as Onyx's.
My husband pushed against my chest until his arms were fully extended and there was unwanted distance between us. Hehad a single arched brow lifted as his pink painted lips curled up. "You're going to what?"
Did I say it wrong? I'd heard some guy tell his date those exact words. She'd blushed and looked so happy in his arms. When I'd asked him what he said, he told me he'd declared his love for her. Based on my husband's reaction I wasn't so sure.
"What did I say?"
