FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! This is NOT the thing I wanted to do today. Instead of getting Harper settled back into our apartment (is it ours by the way?), I have to find a way to breaking the absolute worst news in the whole motherfucking world to her. Besides, I wanted to enjoy more of this new woman that stepped out of that bathroom in there. I stare out of the car window, LA whooshing by in a golden blur, trying to wrap my head around all the intel Elio just gave me.

When we drive into the garage, I see Lorenzo and Bella waiting by the elevator, Bella is holding a big sign that reads “Welcome Home Harper” surrounded neon flowers and balloons. Lorenzo is a sporting a shit-eating grin that can only mean trouble. I chuckle a little and Harper looks up and rolls her eyes in fake annoyance. Alex parks the car and Harper fake drags herself out of it. I watch as she’s scooped up by my brother and he spins her around. Harpers laughter fills the garage and the ache in my chest subsides a little at the sound of it. God, I missed that laugh. I step out of the car as well andjoin the happiness by the elevator just as Lorenzo puts Harper down and Bella goes in for a big hug, happy tears glide down her face.

“Alright, alright, let the woman breathe, please!” I laugh.

Bella lets Harper go and wipes away her happy tears,

“I’m just so freaking happy that you’re finally home.” she sobs.

“I’m glad to be home as well, Bella! Now let’s go inside, I’m dying for a cup of coffee and something sweet made by Carmen.”

We enter the elevator and withing seconds we’re upstairs and walking into my living room.

“Home!” Harper says, letting out a big sigh, her shoulders sagging as if she can finally wrap her head around it. She walks around the room, her fingers gliding over every surface and items it passes. Lorenzo brings her bags to our room and I just watch her.

This gorgeous strong fierce woman that survived all Manchini and Gianni did to her. I know she’s hurting in the aftermath of things but that only makes me want to worship her more now. Usually, I’m the one holding the reigns but I would happily give them to her. I resist the urge to strip down and sink to my knees right here and now before her. Make her feel like the dark princess that she is!

I’m so lost in thought that I hadn’t noticed Harper coming up to me until she slides her arms around my waist and lays her head against my chest. Her body fits so perfectly with mine even with all her weight loss in the past months. I make a mental note to tell Carmen to stock up the fridge and pantry with meals and everything Harper likes.

“Let’s go take a long bath together.” She insists.

“I would love to, Tesoro, but are you ready for that? To have me that close with you?”

She looks up at me, “I just want to feel like we did before. If it’s too much I’ll tell you.”

“Lorenzo! Bella!” I bellow, “Get out of here, NOW!”

Lorenzo and Bella hurry towards the stairs, not even bothering to wait for the elevator. We laugh as we watch them leave. Harper slips her hand into mine and leads me towards the bathroom. I fill up the tub and leave her alone to get into it alone, I want to give her space to undress herself without being worried about what I might think of her body now. I strip down in the bedroom and when I see her covered in bubbles in the tub I walk in.

“May I join you or are you keeping the bubbles all to yourself?”

“Well…” she draws out, “I just might.” She looks up at me through her lashes, faking innocence.

“Okay, then I’ll get dressed again and leave you.” I push out my chest in deviance which makes my tits perk up. Ha, that she noticed! Her eyes flick down from my eyes to my breasts and a blush covers her face. I don’t want to do anything she doesn’t feel comfortable with but I needed to know, I needed to know if she could still look at me and feel something. I turn around slowly to walk away but she grabs my wrist and holds me back.

“No, don’t. Please join me.” She whispers.

“Thenscoot forward, I’ll come behind you.” I urge her.

She does as she’s told and I can slide in behind her. The warmth, bubbles and her slick body surround me and it’s the first time in a long time I feel truly at peace again. She’s here, she’s safe. Harper grabs my hands and puts them on her stomach as she leans her head back against my shoulder. We just sit like this for a while, not speaking, we’re enveloped by each other. I rub slow circles around her bellybutton and she molds into me when I kiss the side of her neck, just below her ear. I see goosebumps flash across her skin.

“My God, Tesoro, I missed you so much.” I whisper. Harper hums in response, her eyes closed. She tugs at my arms trying to tighten my hold on her.

“I’m here baby, I’m not letting you go ever again.” She lets out a small sniffle. I gently lift her chin so I can look at her face.

“I wish I could take your pain away; I wish I could make you feel better.” I croak.

Her eyes open and they’re filled with sadness and hurt.

“It’s like I’m trapped in a storm that never ends, drowning in a sea of nothing but hurt. But then there’s you, your touch, your voice. You’re the only thing that feels real. Make me believe there’s more to life than just surviving it. Please, show me that I can still be more than my pain.” She turns around in the tub to lie on top of me. Her eyes search my face like she’s holding back, like she’s scared to take what she wants.

“Are you sure?” I murmur.
