That infamous blue dress had nothing on the cum stains on Roxanne’s hot pink one.

“I’m returning to Roxanne’s place,” Knox finished.

Amusement curved the enforcer’s lips. “When this death-inviting event happening?”

“Enough,” Knox gritted. “This is bullshit, and you know it.”

“No,” Mortician insisted. “What the fuck is bullshit is all the fucking threats you made when we told you to marry Roxanne.”

“Maybe, it’s your own damn guilt,” Knox bit out. “You know the pressure you put on me was unfair. I have every right to lash out.”

“You not a goddamn child,” Mortician fired back. “I once lashed out at Bailey and she left my fucking ass. Taught me a goddamn lesson. Channel anger into something positive or risk ruining your fucking life.”

“It’s my fucking mistake to make,” Knox said.

“Why the fuck you asked Roxanne to marry you now?” Val questioned.

It surprised Knox that it had taken this long for another one of them to stick their nose in the conversation. It was nobody else’s business, but the bikers excelled at interfering in each other’s business.

“What the fuck is wrong with you people?” Knox demanded. “First, you weren’t satisfied because I hadn’t asked Roxanne to marry me. Now, you’re questioning why I proposed to her.”

Mortician pinned Knox with an unhappy look. “The question fair, Knox. You asked her because you love her or because of our conversation?”

Knox didn’t even have to think about the answer. “We’ve been through this already, but I’ll repeat it. I love her. It’s as simple as that.”

“Then why the prenup?” Digger demanded. “It’s like you expecting your marriage to fail.”

“Anything can happen.”

“You right, Knox,” Mortician agreed. “When she tell you to go fuck yourself, then what?”

“Then I call off the wedding.”

“And your ass wonder why the fuck I don’t want you cohabitating with her until after the wedding. It just seem like you looking for a reason to break it off.”

“That isn’t true. I don’t trust the vagaries of love. Sue me.”

“You can’t even shop for your tux with us.”

“As the groom, it’s my prerogative to purchase my attire wherever I choose.”

Mortician shrugged. “That’s on you. That view just not helping me change my mind.”

“I wasn’t asking your permission to move back in with her. I’m doing it no matter what you say. I love Roxanne and I want to be with her. Iwillbe with her.”

“I would hate to make you disappear, Knox,” Mortician said with a straight face.

“I’m not a criminal on the fringes of society. If I go missing, it will be noted.”

“I hate to disappoint you, but we don’t give a fuck who you are. If you need to go missing, you disappear.”

Knox couldn’t refute Mortician. Charlotte Redding’s son-in-law had been missing for months. He was gone without a trace, last seen at the clubhouse. No one could prove the Death Dwellers were responsible for the young lawyer’s death.

Deciding to drop the subject for tonight, Knox was determined to win this war. He was also pretty certain that he and Roxanne would have another secret rendezvous. If she shared his feelings, this morning’s taste hadn’t been enough.

Silence fell around them, leaving Knox stewing in resentment, but anticipating being in Roxanne’s arms again.

“You know what I’ve just realized?” Johnnie suddenly asked the group, looking into each of their faces as a broad smile curved his lips. “Megan hasn’t spoken directly to Christopher once tonight. Could it be that Mr. and Mrs. Happily-Ever-After are arguing?”
