She shoved Diesel, not caring if he believed she reacted out of jealousy toward him. “You both are fucking disgusting.”

She stomped forward, but Slipper’s voice stopped her.

“Any more news, Reb?” He glanced away. “I-I mean while Diesel was forcing those young bulls from that table. You look real sad and all.”

“We need to know,” a brother named Narci called. The guys called him a pretty boy. He looked like a Calvin Klein underwear model. “So we can help Prez.”

It hit her then. She was no longer only the president’s daughter. Nor would it have mattered if she didn’t want to be named a special enforcer. The old ladies and daughters of members had their own obligations to the club.

If she could just form a word without wanting to cry, she’d fulfill her duties.

Rebel shook her head, cursing an escaping tear and grateful Axel, Ransom, and Ryder hadn’t come down with her.

“Leave her the fuck alone,” Diesel ordered, his voice carrying in the silence. “I’ve told you the baby is still in surgery. When we know more,Iwill relay the information.”

Grant put an arm around Rebel’s shoulder and squeezed her. “Jo will be fine, Reb. She’s a Caldwell.”

“Do you want to choose something yourself or do you want me to do it for you?” Diesel asked, glaring at Grant.

“I just want to know that she’s okay,” she mumbled.

Stepping behind her and settling a hand on each of her shoulders, Grant guided her to a window seat.

Instead of sitting, she stared at the chair. “I shouldn’t have left Momma. CJ is with Molly.”

“Uncle Christopher is there,” Grant reminded her. “Everyone,” he amended. “She has a lot of support. What happens if you end up sick, sweetheart?”

It would be something else for Momma to worry about. “You’re right.” She sat. “Thank you,” she said, once Grant took the seat opposite her.

“How long have you known?”

“Since Christmas afternoon.”

“Roxy and Dad broke the news to me yesterday morning. After everything that happened with Molly on Christmas Day, this hit hard.”

“I need to go to her room and see her,” Rebel said.

“She isn’t as sedated today as she was yesterday,” Grant revealed. “That’s probably why CJ is spending so much time with her.”

“That’s a lot of responsibility for my brother. She should’ve been taken somewhere to see to her mental health.”

“She will be,” Grant said. “Roxy and Dad are arranging it. Bailey and Aunt Zoann are organizing a world class team of doctors. But both CJ and Ryan are taking it hard, so they are leaving Molly here as they prepare them for the inevitable. She’ll be moved within the week.”

“It’ll only be Portland.”

Grant shook his head. “No. Roxy and Bailey got into a bad argument. Bailey set up arrangements at some fancy hospital in LA. Roxy accused Bailey of doing that on purpose, so she wouldn’t have to help Molly and upset Harley.”

“It rolls on,” Rebel said miserably, on the verge of breaking down into tears and screaming. “All the bad stuff. It just keepscoming. Molly shouldn’t be away from her support system. That won’t be good for her at all.”

“I know. That’s why Roxy is so angry with Bailey.”

Rebel didn’t bother to stop her flow of tears. “I’m so scared, Grant. What if my little sister doesn’t survive? What is CJ going to do when Molly is taken? He doesn’t have Harley, and he is so hurt over that. And what if Momma ends up pregnant again?”

That frightened her most of all. And that was why she wanted to kill Uncle Johnnie.

“CJ is trying to process it all, Reb,” Grant said. “He’s torn up over Harley, Molly, and Jo. That’s why he’s with her instead of us. If Harley had just had a civil word to him, he might’ve been able to handle the rest. But she is fucking brutal, angry that he forgot to give her a stupid Christmas present after Molly was taken away. I never thought she’d turn into such a viper.”

“Here,” Diesel said, setting a tray, stacked with three small pizza boxes, a mountain of napkins, and three orange sodas.
