“What’s your family name, Diesel?”

“Caldwell.”

Sipping her beer, she glared at him.

“My former name was Rivers,” he growled.

“Why the secrecy?”

“Why the interest?”

She wrapped her lips around the tip of the bottle and drank again, her gaze never leaving his. “If I was eighteen, you’d fuck me,” she said, leaning over and setting the bottle on the table.

Her rapid change of subjects made his head spin. He remained silent; she was more than likely right, and he damned her with everything in him.

Even after she looked so grown and gorgeous at the dinner with the Davises, he insisted he never saw Rebel as anything but a beautiful child and his adopted sister. He’d ignored her insistence that shewasn’ta little girl.

Viewing her in the nude forever altered his perception of her. The innocent love he’d carried for her became very fucking complicated very fucking quickly.

Goddamn her. He didn’t think he’d ever fucking forgive her for such a grave betrayal.

“If you want to fuck, Rebel, by all means, throw your fucking legs open and pitch pussy worldwide.”

She finished the beer. “CJ said something similar the night Daddy beat me.”

“He spanked you.” Something she was sorely in need of right now. Something he itched to administer.

“The belt didn’t hityourass, so I can call it whatever I please.”

Diesel stood and started for the door, but Rebel ran in front of him.

“I’m sorry,” she said, sincerity ringing in her tone. “I shouldn’t have…I don’t want to lose you and I hate Tabitha. When I left you in the hallway, I didn’t expect you to follow me, Diesel. But I’m not a little girl.”

No, she wasn’t.

“I had just come from the third floor to check on CJ when you came up.”

“I thought he was in the basement with Harley.”

“No,Harleywas in the bedroom with him.”

Diesel didn’t like the sound of that.

“They were playing Mario Kart, but I helped Harley escape down the back staircase.”

“Is anyone in the basement?”

“I don’t think so.”

None of this sounded good.

“Grant’s a gentleman, Diesel. He won’t do anything with Brynn.”

She was right. Ryan, though, was a fucking dickhead.
