Megan backed away, but he caught her wrist. “I don’t have time to wait until your lover’s quarrel is finished.”

“I’m not talking to a fucking woman, Megan.”

“I didn’t say you were.”

“Bitch sounds jealous,” Bash said with a snicker.

Was she? Whether she wanted to admit it or not, she’d been terribly jealous when Kendall first arrived.

“You shut up,” Johnnie barked. “Megan, sit the fuck down. Give me a couple minutes. Please.”

“There’s only your bed to sit on and you aren’t dressed,” she huffed.

He was as naked as the day he was born, his usual state for bed. He smirked at her.

“Christopher willkillyou.”

“You wouldn’t let him.”

Anger flushing her cheeks, she narrowed her eyes. “Finish your conversation, tell me what you want, or I’m walking outnow.”

“Well, goddamn. Daddy said she was a live one.”

“Give me five minutes, sweetheart,” Johnnie begged, trying not to notice how much weight she’d lost or the pain in her blue eyes. She wore a red cashmere top and red leather pants. For the first time in weeks, she indulged in her trademark stilettos, though she wore not a lick of makeup.

Not that it mattered. She was still breathtaking. Once, she’d been his everything. The only woman for him. Until he met Kendall, then Megan became his friend. He’d sought her out at the risk of Kendall’s meltdowns and Christopher’s wrath. Megan championed and advised Johnnie. Even when he turned into a jackass. After Kendall recovered from her suicide attempt, he managed to rebuild his relationship with Megan.

In the span of months, it disintegrated because of his cruelty. Adequate words hadn’t been invented to describe his sorrow for his behavior back then and for now. For what he was about to do.

She might not believe him anymore, but she couldn’t refute hearing Christopher’s words.

“The suspense is killing me, asshole,” Bash chortled. “She sucking your cock or what?”

Johnnie’s dick pulsed at the idea.

“I’m leaving, jerk!”

Moving fast enough to lose the comforter, Johnnie stopped Megan snatched her so hard, she stumbled against him. She smelled like cherry blossoms. Dragging her behind him despite her struggles and ignoring the pain streaking through his shoulder, he sat on the bed and covered his erection, not releasing her wrist. Her blush and glower amused him.

“One fucking minute, Megan.”

“Let go of me!”

“Not until I fucking talk to you.”

“I really hate you, Johnnie.”

She didn’t. Megan didn’t have hate in her.

Refusing to let her go, he asked Bash, “Why’d you call me?”

“Yes. Right. The thought of getting a taste of her pussy or hearing you do it distracted me.” The asshole laughed.

“I’m not amused.”

“I don’t give a fuck.”

“Get to the point or I’m hanging up. Who are the psychopaths you’re referring to?”
