"We get you food, you said you were hungry, right?" I say, glancing back at her in the rear view mirror as I turn the car's engine on.

"Yeah, but you know what I mean. After—after all of this." She bites her lower lip to keep it from trembling. "You gave up your family, Killian, that's—that's a big deal. And you seriously did some damage to your brother. That's probably an even bigger deal."

"Like I said. They're not my family anymore, not if they're going to stand by my violent rapist of a brother."

"But—but was it rape if I let him? He said he'd pay me more if I let him choke me and I let him choke me, so?—"

"Stop it," Stone snaps, turning around in the passenger's seat. His spicy pepper scent explodes in the car around us. "You talked about how you feared for your life, Wildflower, that—that doesn't happen during consensual sex."

Her breaths start to quicken, and she clings to Milo and Theo's thighs as she blinks rapidly, as if she's fighting the urge to cry.

"You fought him, Sunshine," Milo says, his voice still gravely and quiet. "Even if you didn't say no with your words, you said no in other ways. And he didn't stop."

Her eyes close as she purses her lips before she nods jerkily.

"You—you guys are right," she whispers. Her head falls to her chest, and her shoulders start to shake.

Theo wraps his arm around her shoulders and tugs her into his chest.

"As for what I did to my brother," I say, my gaze returning to the road in front of me. "We just have to hope that my parents are image-conscious enough to not want their golden child of a son to be outed as a rapist."

"As far as I know, I didn't see anything," Stone says, chuckling under his breath.

"I guess it pays to have a police officer in the pack," Reyna shoots back.

"Sure does," Stone nods.

Reyna pushes herself off from Theo's chest and leans over towards Milo, brushing the collar of his shirt away from his neck.

"Okay, we should definitely stop by for food somewhere, I'm sure we're all starving," Reyna says. "But we should stop by a doctor. Maybe Charlotte, she seems like the kind of person who would keep things quiet. But Milo needs a doctor. I'm not good enough at first aid to be able to tell if there's some actual damage to his throat."

"I'm fine," Milo croaks out, which contradicts the actual words he's saying.

"Good call, Princess," I say, glancing back at her in the rear-view mirror.

She straightens, a bright smile appearing on her face. I can see the omega part of her preen under my praise. I should complement her more.

"Looks like we have a plan for tonight."

CHAPTER 39

Reyna

"You're lucky, Milo, any longer and Killian's brother probably would've done a lot more damage than he did," Charlotte says, sitting back onto the ottoman in her living room.

"Reyna saved me," Milo says quietly. "With a flowerpot and a kick to the head."

"Hell yeah, that's badass as fuck," Charlotte says, shooting me a grin. She turns back to Milo. "Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage. I don't even think you need to get a CT to check. You'll probably just have trouble swallowing and talking for the next couple days. I can get you some pain management and something to help with the swelling, if you'd like?"

"Yes, please," Milo says.

"We've probably got some of my pain meds that I haven't used back at home too," Stone says. "Since all the pharmacies are closed by now."

"Thanks," Milo nods.

Charlotte shifts along the ottoman until she's sitting in front of me.

"Okay now, Reyna, how're you doing?"
