“Oh, cool. I don’t know if I’ve met Showtime. Which one is he?” I asked.
Neither heard me. I felt like I’d been transported back to high school, feeling bored and ignored while the guys were glued to their video games.
Ah. Boys.
You know, you might be tempted tothinkthey’re fascinating people because they’re famous professional athletes who earn millions of dollars. But at the end of the day, they’re still boys. They’re reallyallthe same.
“Hey, Mac?” Sofia called from her upstairs bedroom. “Is that you down there?”
“Yup! Hi, Sof!”
She squealed, excited. “Yay! Wanna come up and hang out with me while I get ready?”
“Sure!”
Thank you,I thought, practically running up the stairs. Sofia waited for me outside her bedroom, a blush brush in her hand.
“Hey, babe! You look amazing,” I said, and we greeted with a hug.
“Me? Look atyou. You look so frickin’ sexy in that dress!” she said, and we walked through the master bedroom. “You better watch out for those Sin boys tonight. They’ll beallover you.”
“Oh boy. I’msoexcited,” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “I suppose Dakota will be there tonight, mm?”
“Well, the whole team is coming.” She turned to me with a subtle smirk. “So yeah, be prepared.”
Dakota and I dated for a minute in high school—he’s the guy I was telling that asshole Brett about who made the NHL. Our “relationship” didn’t last long enough to even matter, honestly. But somehow, Dakota’s never gotten over it and is always trying to revive something that never was. Probably only because we both live in Las Vegas and he thinks I’d be an easy lay.
“Oh, I know the routine,” I said. But I changed the subject, because we’d already spent too much time talking about Daktoa. “So Brock and Connor are really into that video game, huh?”
She turned to me, her eyes fluttering. “Ugh, isn’t it the worst? That game just came out, and they’ve been playing it ever since they got home from their road trip. Apparently, the whole team is addicted to it, too. Basically all the other WAGs have been complaining about it in group chat. We finally get our boys back from the road, and what do they do? Play games together online. They’re zombies now. Just total video game addicts.”
We shared a laugh.
“I don’t know how you do it,” I said. “One boyfriend who plays games all day would be bad enough. I can’t even imagine two.”
If you didn’t already know, Sofia dates both Brock and Connor. Yup, that’s right; she’s in a committed relationship with not just one buttwoprofessional hockey players. Sofia’s probably the lastfriend of mine I would’ve expected to end up in a “throuple,” considering she was always the good girl all throughout high school and college. But they’ve been going steady for almost two years now, and she’s thriving. Now,Icould never do what she’s doing, but hey, I’m not gonna judge. As long as everyone’s happy, that’s all that matters.
“Yeah, but the pros far outweigh the cons,” Sofia said. “Besides, Brock and Connor both work so hard. And let’s be real; they’re constantly spoiling me.” She sighed. “So … I guess they’re allowed to play games.Sometimes.”
While Sofia brushed on her blush, I hopped up onto the marble vanity and looked around. Accented with soft white and grays, the spacious master bathroom felt cool, clean and fresh. And incredibly luxurious, too, with a walk-in double shower and jacuzzi.
“You wanna know the most shocking part about you having two boyfriends?” I asked, my legs swinging in the air.
“What’s that?”
“The fact that your bathroom is spotless. You’d never even know you lived with two men. You’ve got those boystrained, girl.”
“Hah!” She threw her head back and laughed heartily. “Oh, Mac. The master bathroom is mine. The boys aren’t even allowed to step foot in here. They’ve got theirownbathroom to mess up.”
My shoulders shook with delighted laughter. “Welp. That explains it. I love that so much.”
“Enough about me, though. How haveyoubeen?”
After a deep breath, I gave her a quick rundown on how things had been over the past couple weeks ever since construction began.
“Oh, man. I’m so sorry,” she said. “That sounds awful.”
“I mean, it’s temporary. But yeah … it sucks. The constant noise is driving me insane. And it’s a really scary time for the business, too.” I frowned. “I hope we survive.”
