He let out a breath of relief. “Whew. Scared me for a minute there,” he said, pulling me against his warm chest. “Thought you were gonna say the toy was better.”

I didn’t believe him. “You’re kidding, right?”

“Mostly,” he said. “But after I read your review, I was a tiny bit worried the reality might not live up to the legend.”

“Oh, please.” I giggled and squeezed myself against his big, warm body. “You had nothing to worry about. I knew you’d be amazing.”

“Speaking of amazing,” he said. “That review you wrote?Damn, girl.”

“Did you like it?” I asked, my voice rising with curiosity.

“Ilovedit, Mac. I was dying when I read it on the plane. It was perfect. I loved how you invented a whole story around it and everything. You’re so creative. I was thinking, it’sno wonderyour blog got a following. You’ve got serious talent.”

I beamed. “Aw! Brett! You’re so sweet.”

“That review was a rollercoaster of emotion,” he said. “You made me laugh, you made me rock hard, andI even caught some feels.”

“Caught feels!” I screamed and playfully pounded my fist against his thick pec. “How do you mean?”

“I dunno. After I read it, I guess I was just thinking about how amazing you are. Like, holy shit, I’ve got this incredibly talented girlfriend. And not only is she talented, she’s also a total babe, andsofucking sweet and kind.”

“Aww! Brett!”

“Seriously, you’ve done so much for me,” he said, and stroked my hair. “You’re amazing, Mac.”

“You’re so sweet,” I said, and nuzzled up against him.

He held me tight. “I’m just so excited for us, Mac. To see where we’re headed and what we’re going to do together.”

I was speechless. He’d stolen the air right out of my lungs.

“Brett,” I said softly.

I rolled on top of him and mashed my mouth against his. Our lips fused in a heat of passion, and suddenly I found the words I wanted to say.

“I’m excited, too,” I said, and placed my hand on his heart. “You. Me. Together.”

He looked up at me with a glimmer in his eye. “How should I pay you back, anyway?”

My head tilted. “Pay me back? For what?”

“For all the work you’ve done for the brewery this past week.”

“Oh, that?” I waved my hand at him. “It was nothing, really—a couple of hours at the most. That Mike guy was really taking you for a ride. And honestly? I think those construction guys were, too. Like, what the hell was up with all that noise? What were they evendoingover there? Just banging on stuff to make it seem like they were working? I think the new guys have already accomplished more!”

“Wouldn’t shock me,” I grumbled. “But seriously, Mac, you gotta let me pay you back somehow. Cash, favors, whatever—name it. I don’t want you to feel like I’m taking advantage of you.”

I shook my head. “I don’t feel that way at all. I told you, I wanted to help.”

“C’mon, Mac.There’s got to be something I can do for you. You helped me, now let me help you.” He spread his hands, expecting me an answer. “So?”

I paused.

There was, of course, something I’d been thinking. Something Raven and I had both talked about doing—mostlyas a joke, though I secretly wished I could make it into a reality.

But it was a total pipe dream. And I was afraid to even mention it to Brett out of fear of offending him or scaring him off or—really, whoknowshow someone would react to a request like that?

Brett’s eyes lit. “Ah-ha. There is something, isn’t there? You’re thinking about it right now; I can tell. Let’s hear it.”
