War knew the magic words to say, because what was happening between us was almost spiritual. His touch lifted me to a place I wasn’t ready for but enjoyed.
He gave my butt a gentle tap, then lowered my dress securely to its original position. I stepped forward, slightly disappointed that our sensual moment was over.
Since my legs were still shaky, I plopped back on the couch, staring at War with my hands gripping the couch cushion. I was slightly confused at what just happened. He eased his body closer, enveloping me in cologne that did nothing to stop the wetness pooling between my legs.
“One more thing.” He brushed his hand down my locs and examined them before setting them gently back onto my shoulder.
“I want a kiss too.”
My hands had a mind of their own as I reached for War and brushed my thumb over his wet bottom lip.
“Didn’t you already kiss me?” I teased.
“That was child’s play. I need something that’ll keep me warm while you’re out with Lamont.”
“Lil’David.”
“Whatever. Or maybe you want to explore what an exchange below our waists might look like.”
My breath caught at War’s directness. I closed my eyes and silently counted, determined not to let my inner nature take over despite wanting to push War back and mount him. I opened my eyes and frowned.
“It doesn’t take all that to confirm our alliance, does it?” My voice quivered.
War chuckled.
“No, but I can tell that underneath that tough exterior, you like adventure. Trust your instincts. Go with the flow, sweetheart.”
War pushed all the right buttons with me.
“No lies detected.”
“You and I both like teasing each other and pushing each other to our limits. It’ll set us up for the risks we’re about to take. Intimacy instills greater trust between people, don’t you think?” He twirled my locs again.
“Sometimes.”
My heart thumped as I processed how unorthodox this was. I needed to meet Lil’David, but War’s magnetism tethered me to the couch.
War bit his lower lip and reached for my hand.
“There’s nothing wrong with testing out our synergy. In multiple areas.” War caressed my palm with his thumb.
That subtle move pulled on my heartstrings along with my clit again. When I didn’t say anything but let him continue rubbing my hand, he licked his lips, reminding me how nice and full they were.
“A brother could get used to being up under your socially conscious, empathetic, sexy ass.”
The warmth from War’s words made me vulnerable, even needy. I wanted him right now but tried to deflect.
“Stop complimenting me. I’m not used to being celebrated for my boldness,” I spoke quietly, almost as if saying my words too loud would make War change his mind about me.
He nestled his fingers under my chin and kissed my cheek before staring so deep into my eyes it made my stomach flip-flop.
“But somebody needs to celebrate you. You’re brave, beautiful, and so damn fine.” He was so close to me I couldn’t think straight.
When he brushed his fingers across my bare thigh, I shut my eyes, forcing my mind to quiet down.
Before I opened them, War crashed his warm lips into mine. My body exploded and then crashed. The warmth of the moment overtook me. The closer he pressed his body into mine, the quicker I lapped him up, taking in the sweetness of his mouth. I rested my hand on War’s shoulders to steady myself and then reached for his neck to hold him in place. He circled my waist and then held my hips, pulling my body closer to him.
When we finally broke the kiss, his lips dropped to my neck. My eyes rolled back in my head as he sucked and licked my skin, sending new sensations everywhere. With my head tilted back to give him better access, he dived in with his lips, tongue, and fingers working in sync to drive me over the edge. I moanedand nearly screamed as War deepened the pressure on my collarbone, then moved up to my jaw and back to my lips, which he pried open with his tongue.
