Me – They’ve arrived.
Adam – Thanks.
Adam – How does he look?
I think about that question before answering.
Me – Scary as fuck. He looks like he’s seen some shit, but underneath it all he’s an O’Shea. His daughter is cute as fuck, and his wife is lovely. Had a meltdown because she doesn’t want her man hurt. I like them.
Adam can take that as he sees fit, but I hope he sees the warning in my words. They’d best not fuck this up.
Adam – Understood. We’ll be there in an hour, maybe sooner if Da has anything to say about it.
Me – We’ll meet you in the small dining room at the back of the hotel. Bren will show you the way.
Adam – Okay.
Putting my phone away, I walk over to where Bren is standing at the front desk, going over a few things with her staff.
I wait until she’s finished before I let her know that the O’Sheas will be arriving in an hour.
“No worries,” she grins at me, patting my arm. “It’s all good, Sam. I’ll bring them in. Why don’t you go up and get the rest of them and maybe have that little ball of sunshine run off some steam before she has to come in for tea?”
I snicker, “She’s fucking cute, isn’t she?”
Bren laughs, “Too cute and she knows it. And my lord, that accent when she says ‘mammy,’ it’s too much. Makes me wonder what Lexi will be like at that age.”
“Oh Jesus, hopefully she’ll take after you and not Alec.” I smirk as I see him come up behind Bren, slide an arm around her, pressing his lips to her head.
“Have you told him?” he asks, looking a little surprised. “Told me what?” I ask.
Bren rolls her eyes and turns to glare at Alec over her shoulder. “Ugh, no doofus. I wasn’t going to say anything until after their honeymoon.”
Alec looks sheepish, “Sorry, babe, I obviously got the wrong end of the stick with the conversation you were having.”
I stare at the two of them as they have their conversation. I’m starting to the connect dots, but it’s the way that Alec’s holding Bren that finally makes everything click into place. The stomach bug Bren had that had wiped her out for a few weeks when everyone else got over it quickly, her being extra tired, Alec checking on her more than usual, and now the way he was cradling her non-existent belly.
“You’re knocked up,” I exclaim loudly.
Bren groans and slaps at me, “Would you shut up,” she grumbles.
I frown at her, “Why are you keeping it quiet?”
“Because it’s your wedding, and I don’t want to take the attention from Ally. This is her big day, and she deserves all the attention. You know what the family’s like. So, keep this to yourself until Sunday at least,” she pleads.
My heart swells with love for my sister. Reaching out, I pluck her from Alec’s arms, ignoring his grumbling, and I pull her into my arms. “I’m fucking thrilled for you, little sister. And thank you for being you. I’ll keep quiet, but know that I’m fucking thrilled that I’m going to be an uncle again.”
Bren sniffles and hugs me back. “Love you, Sam. I want everything to be perfect for you and Ally. You both deserve this after everything you’ve been through.” She pulls away and wipes at her eyes before pushing me slightly and saying, “Now shoo, go get Ally and let them know that the family will be here soon. I’ll bring everyone to the back room as soon as they arrive.”
“Will do,” I say, pressing a kiss to her temple. Then I hold my hand out to Alec and pull him into a hug. “Congratulations, man. Happy for you.”
Alec hugs me hard one time and pounds on my back. “Thank you, brother.”
I’m happy for the two of them, and I’m smiling as I go find Ally and do what Bren suggested.
Taking them out to the gardens, we run the legs off Andy’s ball of sunshine for the next hour until I get a text from Bren saying that the O’Sheas have just pulled up.
“Ally,” I call out. When she turns to look at me, I tell her, “Bren says tea is about to be brought into the dining room. Do youand Jeanie want to take Moira indoors. Andy and I will bring Mikayla.”
