I'm done with them. They're mere peons within the cult, they won't know what the higher ups are planning.
"Please, we don't know where he is. His location is always kept secret!" I'm not sure who shouted it, because they covered their faces as soon as we started moving forward.
He screams when I yank his hair back so that I can look into his eyes when the life drains out of him. "We know, and that's why we're taking pity on you. Your death will come more quickly than the others."
He doesn't try to fight me as I stick my knife into his stomach. My blade cuts a line through the center of him, and when his lungs are severed the sweet sound of his last breath reaches my ears.
Blood pores from his mouth and nose, but his eyes are dead. I throw him down to the ground and watch my brother play with his victim.
Turning to the elderly couple, I hold my bloody hands up so they know we won't hurt them. They look terrified, but don't cower in fear.
Kai frees them from their bindings while I try to get information from them. "We won't hurt you, but we need your discretion. We are two undercover agents with the Pixie Hollow Police Department. Our operative could die if we don't find her location. Did you hear anything that could help us?"
Bending down Kai tries to clean some of the dirt off of the elderly lady. Her eyes glisten with tears. "She tried to help us, you know. She was only here for a moment but she tried to untie us. He slapped her for it, then begged her not to tell the king. They were going to kill us for our hearts. This is all very confusing. When can we go home?"
"You'll be home by tonight. We've called one of our friends at the station and he's going to take you to the hospital so that you can get cleaned up and everything gets documented." Kai answers.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you, but we need to find her. Can you think of anything?" I ask again.
The man points at the men lying on the floor. "When one of them asked the man that took her where they were going, he said to a place where childhood dreams come true."
I meet my brother's gaze, because we both know where she is. He's taking her to Wonderland Amusement Park.
THIRTY-FIVE
Who Is The King of Hearts?
I'll tear this amusement park to the ground to find my Princess. The King of Hearts better be ready for us, because we have a score to settle.

My brother turnsonto the road on two wheels. He's as worried as I am. "What if she's really hurt, Gunner?”
He shakes his head. "She's not. We would feel it if she was. Let's just concentrate on getting her the fuck out of there. Think about it, Kai. He's done all of this for her, he won't kill her, at least not yet."
I nod. "What do you think this whole ceremony shit is about?"
"He's a showman, he likes to be in the limelight. He's got something big planned, but I don't know what. The two idiots we killed were supposed to cut out the elderly couples hearts. What could be the significance of that?" Gunner asks.
I shrug. "It's like you said, he's a showman, so he's got to be doing some lame ass ritual. He needed their hearts, it just so happens to be a super moon, he's having Sanderson bring her to an amusement park where several murders occurred. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't try to marry her there."
Gunner swerves off the road, and I throw him a smirk. "Over my dead body!" He yells.
"Ditto. How do you think we need to play this?" Gunner is always better with coming up with a plan.
"Declan is gathering the Brotherhood, I've also contacted the Madd Hatter. He's already at the park doing surveillance. Thankfully, he was already at Wonderland."
That is a relief. "He likes Presley Kate, so he'll be extra vicious tonight."
"And that's exactly what we want. I don't know how many followers this nut job has, but I'm willing to bet because of his ego he won't see us coming. I'm thinking this will be an ultra exclusive party, and that only his highest ranking officials, or whatever the fuck he calls them, will be there tonight."
I agree with that assessment, it's all a part of a sociopath's rule book. "I think he's somebody we know, somebody at Wonderland."
Gunner gives me a look. "Why?" He asks.
"Hasn't it bothered you that Leo knew about that secret passageway that led to the bathroom? I had our team do a thorough investigation, he'd never been inside the asylum before. He had to gain knowledge somehow, and passageways aren't included on the blueprints."
"Yeah, not to mention the impeccable timing of him being there at the same moment she was. Like someone told him where she had gone." He adds.
