My wife isn’t stupid.
“And my phone,” she adds.
“You have a lot of requests.”
“You asked.” She crosses her arms.
“Fair enough. I’ll decide what you can and can’t have anyway.”
She narrows her eyes at me. “Can I go with you?”
“No.”
“Will you let me out of here?”
“No.”
Her frown deepens. “Why not?”
“Because I don’t want to.” I flash her a smile.
At least that’s not a lie.
Chapter 23
WHEN I SHOW UP AT THELionettis’ door, Sienna’s mother comes rushing to meet me in the foyer. Her eyes are wide and filled with worry.
“Alessandro,” she says. “Is everything all right?”
“Yes. Don’t worry.” I give her one of my charming smiles. “Sienna just wants a few things, and I came to collect them for her.”
“Oh.” Surprise flickers through her eyes, but then a big smile breaks out on her face. “Of course.”
“She said there was a bag with her things at the castle. It hasn’t been brought to our home, so it’s probably here. And she wants the photos from her dressing table.”
I could’ve just invented something, but it’s easier when I know exactly what I’m pretending to have come here for. I don’t want Sienna’s mother to suspect anything.
