Gary looked up from his laptop. “What eliminates him?”

“He’s in a wheelchair. Lost both legs in a bike accident about seven years ago. The writing started after that.”

“Therewasa guy in a wheelchair at the reunion,” Dan commented. “I remember.”

“Which discounts him from being the guy who killed Sean. Yeah, I know guys in wheelchairs can do rowing, but that needs specialist equipment, doesn’t it? And then there’s the climbing required in Wilson’s murder. He’s not our man.”

Gary threw his pen down. “Andstillnothing from Greg Collins.”

“Then call him,” Dan suggested. “See if he’s home yet from his business trip.”

“I’ve tried. No answer.”

Riley frowned. “Is there a landline number? Try that. If you don’t get him, you might get his wife.”

Gary looked the number up and entered it into his phone. When a woman’s voice answered, he introduced himself. “We came to speak with your husband a while ago. Is he available?”

“I’m afraid not. He went away on business on Tuesday. I expected him home today, but so far…. In fact, he hasn’t been in touch since he left. That’s not like him.”

Gary couldn’t miss the concern in her voice. “Have you tried calling him?”

“Yes, but he doesn’t answer. I don’t even know where he went. He didn’t tell me, and that’s not like him either.” Her breathing quickened. “To be honest, I’m getting worried.”

“I’ll keep trying,” Gary told her. He finished the call, then dialed Greg’s number.

Still no reply.

“He said he’d be in touch, didn’t he?” Riley frowned. “Maybe something’s happened. Oh, and I heard back about the reunions. Anthony King missed both the 2002 and 2008 reunions. So he was still in Toronto.”

Gary’s phone buzzed, and he glanced at the screen.Thank God.“It’s a text from Greg.”

Dan frowned. “Why text instead of call? What does he say?”

Gary read aloud, “There’s been a change of plan. I can’t come to the precinct, but I still need to meet you. I’ve found something you need to see. I’ll be waiting for you. I don’t dare leave here in case the evidence vanishes, so please, come quick.”

“Is there an address?” Riley asked.

“No, he’s sent coordinates.” He tapped on his keyboard, then arched his eyebrows. “What’s he doing in Dartmouth?”

“How far away is that?” Dan got his phone out.

“Over an hour at least. Let’s see what this is about.” He called Greg once more.

No answer.

Dan tapped his pencil on the keyboard. “So now what do we do?”

Gary stood and grabbed his keys. “We get in the car and we drive to Dartmouth. And he’d better have answers for us when we get there.”

Dan stared at him. “But what if it’s a trap?”

Riley’s eyes glittered. “That’s what weapons are for.”
