Did she really think she could just ignore me like that?
Like I don’t matter?
I told her she was mine.
Elodie agreed I was hers and now I don’t matter?
I’m practically vibrating with rage by the time I reach the path. I stay silent for a moment just following her. I watch her go deeper and deeper into the jungle and away from the beach.
As much as I try to calm down, I can’t.
She’s out here just risking her life for what? A pretty view.
She should be afraid. There are monsters in this world that would see her alone and see a prize. But she’s mine and I’d never let that happen to her.
Maybe I’ll show her how scary those monsters could be…
The thought pops into my head and I don’t hate it. While she’s entranced by a small stream ahead, I sneak up behind her. Running my fingers down the side of her neck, I snake my fingers into her hair with one hand and clamp down on her mouth with my other.
Jerking her by her hair back to me, I muffle the scream she lets out.
“Did you really fucking think I was going to let you ignore me? You ran out of my bed this morning like I meant nothing to you and you’re giving me the silent treatment? I think not. Don’t you remember I’m your Storm Hunter. I will always catch you.”
She breathes out heavily, her pulse thrumming wildly from the panic I just caused.
Finally, she’s afraid.
Good girl, maybe you can be taught.
Elodie squirms a bit, testing my grip, but when she finds no give, she stops immediately.
She tries to talk, looking up at me, but the sound is too muffled.
“Don’t fucking scream, Elodie. No one out here could save you from me.” The fear in her eyes turns me on.
She nods before I remove my hand.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Blaise? We fucked and now you’re chasing me down in a jungle? That’s deranged. We’re strangers who had a good time on a cruise. Don’t try to make this more than what it was for you. You left before I woke up. You made it clear how you felt.”
I can’t help but laugh.
Is she kidding?
“I had a work call. Which I mentioned before we slept. So, I went and got us coffee once I was done. When I came back, YOU were gone. Don’t try to turn this around on me. This isn’t a fling to me. I told you, you’re mine and I’m yours. Don’t make us less than what we are.”
She scoffs, clearly offended. I loosen my grip and she turns to face me. The fire in her eyes is back in full force now that she’s out of my grasp.
“You expect me to believe that horse shit? No note, no nothing, and I’m just suppose to stay in your bed and wait on you after a night of fucking on a cruise ship. How stupid are you?” Elodie points out.
Well shit, when you put it like that…
I reach out, wrapping my fingers around her slender throat and squeezing gently. “Are you sure you want to call me stupid, baby? Is that what you think is best for you right now?”
She arches her brow and I twist her around, my arms pin her back flush against my chest with my hand still around her throat.
The little gasp she gives me tells me she’s also affected by this.
“Tell me, my pretty little Storm, do you think that is what’s best for you right now?” Leaning in closer to her ear, I whisper, “Answer me, Elodie. Do you?”
