“The history of fay.” Caspian clears his throat, and my back snaps straight, feeling as though I was caught doing something inappropriate. “What does it mean? Can anyone answer?” he asks, leaning against his desk. Everything about him pulls my focus, and I spot something new with each glance. My observation wanders down his shirt, past his belt, and further down to his–

“She’s found the magic wand, it seems.” Blaise scribbles, and I choke on oxygen as though I’m allergic to it.

“Dude!” Whipping in his direction, I ask, “Why are you watching me?”

I’m becoming more annoyed at this damn detective fay pointingout my hypocrisy. I get it. I’m lusting over this fay when I loathe it being done to me. Shameful. But I’m not doing it on purpose.

“Getting angry, Kyra?” Blaise asks, hovering his pen over the pages. Realizing he is waiting for an answer, I ignore him, and receive a smile for not playing his game.Jerk.

“I can answer that, Cas,” another student below me speaks. It’s Caspian. Pronounced Kas–pee–an. Not that damn hard.*Sigh* “It’s how we came about. How fays before us used their magic, shaping our realm and creating this land we now call, Valirene.”

Caspian, now shrouded by a dark blue hue cascading from the tinted ceiling, approaches the ivory podium. Shimmers of purple and green lights trickle atop his skin, giving him an underwater look. “You’re half correct, Carter.” He smirks, staring at me, and I’m pulled under his tide. Ice worms beneath the skin of my thighs, following a trail of fire as his multicolored eyes trail over me.

Whispering, “You’re drooling,” Blaise nudges me with his thigh, and I’ll be damned. Embarrassment drags me into a void of humiliation. My first day meeting Caspian and he caught me lusting, and now, drooling over him. It’s official, I’m ready for death to consume me.

Hiding behind my palms, I wipe the indignity from my lips and cry internally. What the hell is wrong with me?Yes, he’s fine as hell, but come on. Get. It. Together.

“Carter’s headed in the right direction, but history reveals more than magic.” Caspian continues, “You have the birth of all magic and its entirety, yes, but also shifter bonds, eternal bonds, and even God bonds.” Everyone gasps, minus me, and I’m left pondering why. Yet again, confused.

“I’m sure one of these, if not a few, are new to you. Bonds in general. They’re all kept a secret until you attend this class. Can anyone guess why?”

Thinking back, Gina went on about bonding with Ethan, and if mentioning bonds warrants this type of reaction, it must be special.

“Alright, since no one has the answer, I’ll inform you. It’s keptsecret to protect you from yourselves. If not, the vast majority of you would spend an exhausting amount of time searching for their eternal or one of the other bonds. Fays have become demented, forcing a bond against Eros’s blessing, and others have lost their magic and worse. Believe me when I tell you, this isn’t a light matter.”

Babbles of rumors ignite the room, and my hand shoots up.

“Yes, Kyra.” My name rolling off his tongue has those fireflies and butterflies fighting within my stomach once again. His voice is an orgasm wrapped in a bow.Stop.*Sigh* I attempt to bring my attention back. He’s not hot. He’s not hot.

“You stated Eros, as in the God of Love?”

“Correct. You, being a transfer in your own right, I’m aware you’re accustomed to praising one God. Here, we have many. And before you ask, yes, they are real.” He smiles, and my legs snap shut. I appreciate him for not voicing I’m mortal, and apparently, my body is too.

Waves of relentless warmth caress my thighs, and I swear it feels like someone is stroking them with a delicate touch, inching further towards my center.

“Thank you for answering.” My pitiful way of focusing. He nods, facing the room’s other side, and I exhale. I haven’t been touched in…Shit, when’s the last time I had a release?

“As for the rules of my class!” Caspian yells for God knows why, and Blaise snorts in tandem. “Excuse me, what I meant is, my class rules pertain to Eros and this room. Some of you may have noticed an abundance of…emotions. More heightened and uncontrollable.” He flicks his curiosity my way before averting his gaze.

If I think things can’t get any worse, Blaise reminds me how wrong I am. Dawning one of the most serious expressions I’ve seen on him while facing me and not batting an eye, he asks, “Cas, do you mean horny or inappropriate thoughts? Because I know a few ladies in here who’ve been struggling with such urges. Good thing your first rule is still intact.”

“Blaise!” No, he did not just saythat.

My brows shoot well past my forehead as shock grips my throat, forcing me to surrender what little air I’ve consumed. A thud sounds beneath the desk, and he yelps from the sudden kick. “Hey, you’re not alone. I was talking about the others too.” Leaning down, he rubs his ankle. I surrender another kick, and another yelp follows.

“That’s correct, and none of you should feel embarrassed. Those emotions are not entirely of your own free will,” Caspian reassures.

“See, Kyra, it’s fine. Now, can you stop kicking me?” he pleads, and I give one more for good measure. “Fuck.”

Caspian clears his throat. “This is why rule one was established. My last Academy ignored these urges, and students stripped down, confessing their love and ravishing one another, hoping to awaken their bonds.”

I’m left baffled and relieved. The entire time I’ve been lusting after him stems from whatever this room has going on in it. For a moment, I feel unlike myself, vowing to change classes out of sheer disgrace.

“Speaking of bonds, let’s go over them, eternal, shifter, and God. Each one can be achieved in a different way and becomes more complex to obtain. We’ll start with shifter bonds,” he announces, striding towards the other side of class. “Draco has a shifter bond, and at his age, it’s almost rare. Is there anything you can tell us about your shifter?”

I see the pride swell in Draco’s chest as he puffs it out and prepares to speak. “There’s not much I can say, but my shifter’s amazing. I wish she attended here instead of Serlania.” He sighs, and Caspian gestures a slight bow.

“Serlania’s my last Academy before moving to Rebirth.” Rotating towards the student who asked earlier, he shares, “I can’t say more on the subject, so we’ll keep going. Shifters have laws pertaining to fays. We’re forbidden to give information about their kind unless granted by the one you’re bonded with.”
