Titan and Beast clashed.

Bosse felt every gash Titan took, sick for his wolf to fight this crazed rhino.

Krol had walked closer and shouted, “Kill him, Beast!I didn’t pay the Black River Pack all that money for you to play around. Get it done!”

Gashed and bleeding from multiple injuries, Titan fought on with total abandon and latched onto Beast’s throat. He jerked his head back and forth, ripping into the one spot he could finally damage.

Beast caught Titan’s shoulder with a hoof and cracked bone, then kicked Bosse’s wolf aside.

Titan rolled until his limp body stilled. He moaned, fighting for a breath.

Give me the body, Titan. Bosse endured the miserable change, and so had Titan. His shoulder bled, and his chest had been slashed open, creating a pool of blood.

His wolf had ripped Beast’s throat enough that the rhino stood in one spot. A sickening sound oozed out on each exhalation.

Bosse caught movement far behind Beast. Alifair was chanting again and moving toward the rhino.

He lifted his good arm, waving her to go away. “Run. Save yourself.”

Her determined gaze met his. She shook her head and mouthed the words,Not without you. Her magic created a haze of blue fog around her, giving his mate a ghostly appearance.

He realized in that moment she was willing to sacrifice herself to save him. How could he have ever doubted any action she took? She said she’d seen him save her friend Rez in a dream. That dream had only been partially correct.

Alifair had saved her friend and succeeded in fulfilling her duty.

She had come to him originally for that help but had proven her love again and again.

Yes, her love. Only his cookie fairy could love someone like him. Because of her, he was no longer a broken wolf shifter. He had gained the heart of an angel. The feeling of euphoria flooding him had to be love as well. He’d never experienced anything like it.

Beast must have heard Alifair. It turned sluggishly to face her.

“Please, Alifair,” Bosse begged as loud as his hoarse voice could shout. He could not watch her be crushed by that monster. “Runn!I. Love. You. Don’t die.”

She never stopped her chanting. Her eyes filled with tears that streamed down her face. She sent him a kiss and kept walking. Nothing would stop his little warrior.

Krol screamed at Beast, “The wolf is done.Kill her!”

Bosse could not do anything with only one good arm.

When Beast took a step, then another, Bosse panicked and told Titan,If you can shift, try to get to its legs.

Beast kept going.

His wolf pulled energy and shifted, but it cost him. Bosse fought against nausea and losing consciousness.

Titan came up on all four legs. Only three worked. He moved as swiftly as he could on those legs and caught the rhino when it stopped quickly and jerked its head up.

Alifair screamed, and Bosse felt her anguish all the way through his body.

Had the monster gotten to her?

Titan clamped his jaws on the rhino’s rear left leg. As Titan fell on his side, he clawed the area his jaws hadn’t touched and yanked muscles free. Blood poured out from the gash.

The rhino jumped to the left and fell on its side, squealing and kicking at Titan with its rear right leg. Titan was ready and twisted to bite hard on that leg, not giving in as the rhino yanked the leg. Muscles ripped free, and blood poured even faster now from two mortal wounds.

Beyond exhausted and bleeding as well, Titan released his hold and crawled away from the pool of blood, trying to reach Alifair. Titan could barely speak.I am done. Take the body and talk to mate.

Bosse and Titan suffered through one last shift.
