To the left of Bosse, Krol yelled, “Mage! Where are you?”
When Bosse’s eyes cleared, he lay in blood-soaked dirt. His heart thumped slower. He ignored Krol and inched his head forward to find Alifair.
He could see her faint image through the fog. She held her hands over her stomach and looked bewildered.
Sounding furious, Krol called out, “Lammogo, come to me! Kill the wolf shifter and woman.”
Chapter 48
Krol had told his wilkotaukto stay hidden until he called to him. He didn’t want his best ace to appear before the mage showed.
That stupid rhino the Black River Pack made had failed to kill Bosse or the servant woman. They might bleed out, but not fast enough.
The Lammogo had landed as soon as Krol called it down. He tried again to give it an order as he pointed at Bosse and the woman. “Kill those two.”
His flying weapon didn’t move an inch.
That bloody mage had said the Lammogo would only retrieve but not kill until their deal was final. Krol had delivered on his end.
Where was Zuzani?
Sure, Krol was early, but the mage said he’d know if Krol arrived with Magdelina. Krol shouted to the sky, “I have the pregnant mate you want. Show yourself.”
No squirrelly mage showed his face.
He’d have to kill Bosse and that servant woman himself.
