Would she fail Rez by wanting this wolf shifter to be free of Krol?
Or would she get everyone killed if her dreams while in this castle turned out to be as undependable as her magic?
Chapter 8
Where had this crazycookie fairy come from?
Sure, Bosse had seen this female servant for the past few weeks since Krol’s guards brought in a new batch of captured females to be servants, but she was no servant. She didn’t have that beaten-down look like so many others, such as the redhead. He’d heard that some of the women had been expected to provide personal service to Krol beyond delivering food and drink to his bedroom.
He ground his teeth in rage at the idea of Krol touching this woman.
“What’s wrong? I’m almost done, but your back muscles have tensed hard as stone,” she grumbled.
Whatwaswrong with him? He relaxed his back muscles and smiled.
He couldn’t help it. She was clearly terrified to be in here but dared to sew him up with no idea if he’d attack her. “How did you put the guards to sleep?”
“I have a gift... sometimes.”
What did that mean?
He started to ask, but her hand trembled when she placed it on his shoulder.
A buzz of energy shot through his skin, making him jump. “What was that?”
She’d snatched her hand back. “I, uh, don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Lie.
Before he could think of what to say, she went back to sewing. He could feel a tingle from her light touch but not the shock from before. He didn’t know what to make of this woman, who sewed his injury while shaking with fear.
She shouldn’t be so trusting. Not just of entering the cage of a monster.
He’d heard the guard with the big nose talking about the females.
For the miserable time Bosse had spent here, he’d paid no mind to the rumble of stupid chatter. He’d lived every day expecting to die and had no way to help the women here, or he would.
