Adrian turned to Jaz. They stayed quiet while staring at each other, and then Adrian asked her, “We’ve heard enough for now, right?”
“Yep.” Jaz headed for the door.
Before she and Adrian left, Bosse spoke up. “I have a question.”
Adrian swung back to him. “Shoot.”
“You two feel extremely powerful, unlike any other shifters I’ve ever met, and I’ve fought some very powerful shifters. What are you?”
Jaz looked at the floor for a moment, then lifted her head. “We are different. We can’t tell you right now, but you may ask our leader who is coming to visit.”
“I will,” Bosse confirmed.
Adrian laughed. “I’m looking forward to that conversation.”
Bosse relaxed, something he hadn’t been able to do in so long it felt foreign. He asked Titan,Do you think this sounds too good to be true?
Titan pondered a bit before replying,Maybe. I believe what those two said. We are safe here, but their leader must be more powerful than them. That is when we learn what will be asked of us.
Bosse couldn’t argue with that.
In fact, he looked forward to finding out what this leader wanted from him and Titan.
The sooner, the better.
Bosse would use whatever information he had in exchange for their helping him get back across the ocean.
From there, he would find his way to Alifair.
Chapter 18
In just one day, Bossefelt stronger than he thought he ever would again. How could that be? After spending the entire first day sleeping and eating, Jaz declared him physically ready to train on day two.
Adrian did not ask the impossible.
There were four other shifters. Not a large pack compared to where he grew up, but there had been more pack members in this one at one time, based upon what Jaz told him last night.
