“I’m not leaving you behind, my little bird.” Aurora snakes an arm around Raven’s waist.

Raven blushes.

“The spell only requires one anchor.”

I frown. “What does that mean?”

“What?” Rev asks, turning to me.

“The spell book said, ‘the spell only requires one anchor.’”

Aurora sucks in a breath. “Does that mean if Raven and I stay here—you two can go home?”

My heart rises into my throat.

“Yes,” the spell book says.

My mind spins, and I almost lose my balance. “You’re sure? Positive. Like the whole world depends on the answer being correct. If Raven stays because she still holds the power that sealed the prison, the spell will remain solid?”

“I am positive.”

“And her power will not fade?”

“No. She will hold onto Reveln’s power for the rest of her life—which will be long.”

“And if she dies?” I cringe saying it aloud, but it has to be done.

“Death does not remove the magic. I will be imbued in something else. Usually a child. But it could be a loved one or even an object.”

My mouth falls open. “So, Rev and I can go home—”

Tears well in my eyes. No, it’s not possible that this could actually work. I can’t actually get everything I’ve wanted.

“Yes.”

My knees buckle at the word. Rev catches me and falls to the ground, holding me as I sob in relief. I don’t have to abandon the kingdom that needs me. I don’t have to abandon my mate.

“We can go home,” Rev whispers. “This time, it’s my home too.”
