“Not until you do,” he says through clenched teeth.
I laugh. “Believe me, I won’t be letting you off that easy. Come, and then I’ll put you to work elsewhere.”
His breathing is labored, his eyes clenched closed.
“Now, come,” I demand.
Rev obeys. His body convulses against mine, bucking his hips wildly. I’m able to fully enjoy it as he comes undone against me, my own pleasure never pausing.
“Good,” I say as he stills, breathing heavy against my neck. “Now, get on your knees.”
Rev obeys that order too, with a glint of amusement in his eyes. On his knees, he needs no further instruction. His tongue strokes me, and I throw my head back into the door a second time. “My God,” I whimper as he works me. His finger enters me playfully, and I squirm against the new rush of sensation.
I tense, pleasure building, and bite down on my fist.
“Your turn, Angel,” he murmurs against me. His expert strokes elicit a new rush of intense bliss that crashes into me. Waves and waves of pleasure sweep me into oblivion as stars explode behind my eyes.
He drags out the rush of pleasure, and then as I still, he looks up at me and smiles. “Good girl.”
“Mmmm,” I say, body suddenly heavy.
Rev sweeps me into his arms and carries me to the bed. It creaks as he lays me on the stiff covers.
I can already barely keep my eyes open as he pulls the blankets up and settles in beside me. “Rev,” I whisper as I curl against his chest. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Angel.” He kisses the top of my head.
“Are you going to leave tomorrow?”
He stills for a moment then pulls in a long breath. “Yes. I have a few things to take care of in the Luminescent Court. But I promise we’ll see each other soon. It’s not goodbye, okay?”
My heart aches, but I refuse to allow it to break. Not now. “Okay,” I whisper. I close my eyes, my cheek resting against his warm chest. It’s hard to breathe, thinking about Rev leaving me behind here. But it’s necessary. I’ve always known it would be necessary.
“You were right,” I say.
“About what?”
“That this is worth it. The pain of being apart from you—it’s worth having this.” I look up to find a teary-eyed Rev watching me too.
“We’ll make this work, I promise. We will,” he assures me.
I nod and then close my eyes against the rising heartache. I’m thankful, then, for my utter exhaustion because even pain and the fear of losing Rev cannot keep sleep from claiming me.
