He stilled, gripping my upper arms with iron fists as he twisted me and lifted me until I was on his lap with no chance of getting away. “Don’t give him away? What the fuck are you talking about?”
I sobbed, pushed to angry tears. “Don’t, just don’t do this. I’m begging you. Let me go. Let him be free.”
“Willow.” He shook me slightly to get me to focus on him. “Stop. I’m only taking you to keep you safe.”
“You’re kidnapping us.”
He furrowed his brow. “I’m taking you somewhere safe. I asked you to move before, and now I have to take matters into my own hands.”
“You’re kidnapping us!” How could he interpret it any other way? What alternate universe had I fallen into?
“I’m taking you somewhere safe,” he said, almost deadpan like he’d dare to mock my reaction. “Oscar is in the car behind us with my brother.”
“You are kidnapping me.”
“I’m taking you to a safer place,” he challenged.
“There is no safe place!” I fought to break free of his grip again. “I’m owned, and you will never be able to beat him. You’ll be killed for taking me, Saul!”
He smirked, then with a shake of his head as I steamed with anger, he laughed once.
Mocking me.
“Who ‘owns’ you, Willow?”
I set my teeth together, so livid and furious that I couldn’t speak at all.
This wasn’t a game.
This was a matter of staying alive and keeping my son with me.
And he had the gall to smile at me like this was just a joke.

SAUL
Icounted on Willow being mad when I came to her apartment to take her and Oscar. It wasn’t my intention to force her into my life. But I had to know she was protected.
And the Romano waiting outside her building when I arrived with my brothers to “ambush” her at home proved how near danger I’d put her.
“Willow?”
I watched her fuming on my lap as the driver took us toward the Ivanov building. She fought like wild, but now she was stuck, speechless not with fear or panic like before, but anger.
At me.
“Willow, who do you think owns me?”
“Don’t mock me,” she snapped. “I don’tthinkI’m owned. I know I am.”
Seeing her so mad shouldn’t have turned me on. I tried my best to tame my temper which had already been running hot and high when I encountered the Romano sneaking too close to the building. He’d killed the Ivanov soldier there, and that guilt hit me hard too.
“Yeah. By me. I own you.” Grinning smugly wasn’t the right thing to do, but I couldn’t help it.
I had her.
She was going home with me.
