them. And so on and so on. You’re going to start a fucking Armageddon. Is one soul reaper’s life worth that?”
He moved so fast, she didn’t have a hope in hell of
ducking. His fingers closed around her wrists, not hard
enough to hurt, just firm enough to hold her still. He
was bigger. And he hadn’t been near death for the past
three days. But she wasn’t afraid of him.
“I know what’s inside your skin, Dagan Krayl,” she
whispered, her eyes never leaving his.

SINS OF THE HEART
“There’s a soul reaper inside my skin, Roxy Tam.”
His fingers tightened.
“A soul reaper who’s spent an inordinate amount of
effort keeping me alive.” She traced the tip of her
tongue over her lower lip. “Don’t pretend you’d hurt
me now.”
They clashed in silent challenge, then he jerked his
hands away and stepped back. He shoved his hands in
his pockets, which only served to push his jeans down
so far she could follow the treasure trail right down to
the very top of the triangle of hair at its base.
“I could kill you if I wished.”
“Without a doubt,” she conceded to assuage his
stupid male pride. Because actions spoke far louder
than words, and he’d just spent three days doing everything he could to keep her alive.
He was torn. She could see that. His anger at her
words meant he cared at least a little about the humans
who might die if he followed his plan. But did he care
enough? Or was his brother’s life worth everything to
him?
