Neither of them said another word about it.
She figured the time for a quick exit was as ripe as
her smell. “I need a shower,” she muttered.
With the sheet clutched to her breasts, she swung her
legs over the side of the bed, then just sat there, staring
at the floor, getting her bearings and waiting to see if
her head started to swim.
When nothing dire happened, she raised her head and
found herself staring at the mirror above the dresser. It
reflected an image from the mirrored door of her closet
behind her: her shoulders and back naked. The creamcolored sheet, a vivid contrast to her dark skin, was
pooled low at her hips. Her hair hung in tumbled
disarray.
But the image revealed more than the curve of her
spine and the flare of her hips. It reflected Dagan, close
behind her, shirtless, arms crossed, his head turned
toward her, his expression stark and hungry.

Her breath caught and she felt electricity spark on
her skin.
Then he looked up and caught her watching him,
and their gazes locked and held. Did she breathe? Did
her heart beat?
Finally, he looked away.
She rose, clutching a fistful of sheet to strategically
cover her ass. He stayed perfectly still.
“No need to rush to my assistance.” She was a bit
