Ending the call, he sat there staring at the floor.

What the fuck was wrong with him? Roxy Tam had

wormed so far under his skin she’d taken up permanent

residence. And he’d let her.

He’d done things for her that had pushed the boundaries of both his nature and his experience. He’d stood

against one of his own kind, his father’s man. He’d

stayed by her side, nursed her as she recovered. What

the fuck did he know about nursing anyone?

Only what he’d seen from a distance as he watched

the ever-changing landscape of human lives. He’d sure

as sugar never taken care of anyone before.

But he hadn’t been able tonottake care of her,

hadn’t been able to just sit back and watch her life—

or death—play out as it would. He’d felt the burning

urgency todosomething. So he’d done whatever he

could think of, and some things he never would have

thought of.

Like feeding her his blood.

That was new. Whether she wanted to get all chatty

and personal or not, he and Roxy were due for a little

talk about that. He could still see her expression as

she’d lain on the forest floor, bleeding, dying, begging

him to feed her his blood. Her eyes had told him she

thought he ought to know exactly what she needed.

So, yeah, the girl had some talking to do.
