“Cereal—”

“Hmm.” It was impossible to miss the affront in

that sound. He drew back, frowning down at her.

“—then sex.” She laughed at the expression on his

face. “Hey, if you don’t fuel the vehicle, it can’t perform.”

“Where do you want to eat?”

“That’s a loaded question, isn’t it?”

He laughed, the sound rich and full and beautiful.

“The kitchen,” she decided. “It’s more likely we’ll

actually end up eating something.”

“Fine.” The mattress dipped as he rolled and pushed

to his feet. Then he padded from the bedroom, completely nude, without a backward glance. She watched

him go, admiring the high, round curve of his ass and the

long, lean muscles that roped the backs of his thighs and

calves.

She bounced from the bed, feeling like she could run

a marathon. Which made no sense because she’d

almost died, had eaten nothing but his blood for three

days and then had had marathon sex for…how many

hours?

Her sense of time was completely screwed.

Of course, subsisting on his blood had probably

given her the boost of energy. It was like nothing she’d

ever experienced before. Like can after can of Red

Bull poured down her throat.

She opened a drawer and grabbed a pair of underwear and a long T-shirt. Some habits were hard to

break. She’d spent too many years in foster homes

where there were too many kids, too little space and
