twice now. But Roxy wanted them moved again. This
time, without anyone but her knowing about it. Because
she had the inside track here, information that no one

else seemed to have. Actually, she wouldn’t have it
either except for following her gut the night she’d saved
Dana.
Roxy had tasted her blood. The kid had been out for
the count. Roxy’d seen a scratch on her arm, tiny
droplets welling in a neat line. A swipe of her finger.
A swipe of her tongue. And she had a surefire way to
track the kid if she got nabbed again.
She didn’t know why she’d even considered that a
possibility. But she had. And she wasn’t one to pass up
a perfect opportunity.
There’d been something odd about the kid’s blood.
A strange energy. But Roxy had chalked that up to
never having tasted a child’s blood before. Now, she
wasn’t convinced.
The kid’s blood had had a familiar taste to it.
And if what she suspected was true, then she was
on her way to figuring out at least part of the riddle of
the dead soul reaper. If she were right, then she knew
what role Dana had played. And she knew how they’d
managed to kill Lokan Krayl.
A sleepy, feminine voice answered the phone on the
seventh ring. “Do we need to go right now?” Dana’s
mom whispered, not even bothering with a greeting.
There was only one person who would call this phone.
