Michael didn’t get to finishwhat he was saying before Killer had him locked up against the farwall with an arm across his neck.“Who the fuck do you think you are?”Killer asked, growling in the other man’s face.
Kelsey panicked.“Stop it, theboth of you, stop it.”
Sandy and Tate tried to pull Killer off,but he wasn’t having any of it.
“I’m sick to fucking deathof you throwing your name around. She’s mine, dammit, mine.”
Security rushed through the roomtearing Killer off.He was pulled out of the room, yelling atMichael.“I’ll find the fucking truth out about you, fucker.”
She glanced toward Michael to see himsmiling smugly. He clearly wanted Killer to attack him, butwhy?
“Get out,” he said, pointing a finger at Tate.“You’ll be lucky to see her againsoon.”
Tate, always so stubborn, walked over toher.“I’ll see you tomorrow, honey.Just wait and see if anyone canstop me.”She kissed her cheek before leaving the room.
“I’ll have a guard of mychoosing posted at this door,” Michael said, glaring at Sandy.“When the time is right, you’re leaving this place.”
Panicking, she glanced at Sandy, seeing the shock in the other woman’s face.“You can’t take heraway. This is where she has to stay.”
“No, I’m doing what I think isbest for my wife, and it’s not staying here with you fuckers.Idon’t want him near my woman.”
“I’m not yours,” Kelseysaid, speaking up.
“You’re mine.Your name is KelseyGranito, and it’s time you started using it.”
He stared down at her.The glare he senther way startled her enough to sit back on the bed.She felt tornbetween arguing with him or doing as she was ordered.
“Leave,” he said, talkingto Sandy. He didn’t break eye contact but ordered Sandy out of theroom.
For once the other woman didn’t arguewith an order.
She stared at the door closed shutbehind her.
“Why?”she asked, staringback at him.
“Why what?I’m not a mindreader.”
“Why do you care? You’ve been outof my life for so long. Why do you carenow?”All the time they’d been together henever showed any point in caring about her.“None of this makes anysense. You live your life, and I live mine.”
“It’s going to change. There’s nogetting out of our contract, Kels. You’ve got to face facts.Yourlife belongs to me now.”
She shook her head.“No, you’reinsane.”
“I’m not.One day you’ll see howmuch I’m protecting you.The moment the doctor signs off on yourcondition I’ll move you. You’ll have nothing to do with TheSkulls.”
This was the last thing shewanted.
“What about my mentalstate?I could try to kill myself again.”She winced at thehysteria coming from her.
“You and I both know you’re notgoing to try that again. No, you’re fine, and I’m not letting youblind me into doing what you want.”He buttoned up his jacket.“With Killer and the rest of those fucking bikers out of the way Ican finish my business here.”
He walked to the bed.She jumped outof the bed and glared at him.“What makes you think I’ll even comewith you?I’m not a child, Michael. You can’t hold Santa over myhead.”
His smile taunted her.“I’m not going tohold Santa over your head.I’m simply going to tell you the truth. You try to put up a fight, and I’ll make sure The Skulls are hit atevery angle with the law, the banks, and anyone I can bring to mypower to make their life difficult.Killer is a criminal, and I’llmake sure he goes away for a very long time. It’s easier than yourealize to get people put away. All it takes is a little nudge anda lot of money, both of which I have.”
The threat was clear. She jerked awayfrom him when he made to kiss her.
“I can wait.It won’t belong before you get used to my touch,” he said.
