“Shut the door, Emelia.”

She did as told and quickly sat across from me, small body practically vibrating. “I know they’re here,” she said, still smiling and glancing around the room. “I can hear their dragons—and yours.” She turned her focus on me, her dark eyes peering into mine as she stilled momentarily. “You’re happy.”

“Not right at this moment,” I said, my voice low as both my mates’ joy radiated what resided in my heart.

Emelia’s grin lit the darkness of her eyes, like stars in the night sky.

Primrose’s dragon whispered a word I didn’t understand but felt I ought to. Energy rippled from her as she quickly stood and shimmered into sight, leaving Jaxon de-cloaked and scrambling to his feet on my other side.

Thank fuck they were both clothed.

Primrose faced Emelia, wariness and excitement rising in her mind even though red flushed her face. “You know the word my dragon spoke,” she said rather than asked.

Emelia’s eyes widened, and she blinked, staring up at my golden goddess, who dwarfed her small stature. “Yes.”

Golden beams of fire licked at Primrose’s legs as a shiver slid over her body. “Who were your fathers?”

“C-Canadian brothers,” Emelia whispered, also rising to her feet, her smile widening.

“FrenchCanadians,” Primrose said with a light laugh, her disbelief whipping my focus between the two young women. “Twin brothers.”

Emelia’s head jerked up and down, and they both let out a shriek, rushing to embrace each other.

Sisters.

I glanced up at Jaxon, and grinning, he shrugged.

Enticing Primrose to leave her newly found little sister proved near impossible. Jaxon sat against the wall while the two girls chatted the entire allotted hour away.

Fucking dragonblood everywhere.

Jaxon huffed a laugh, and I glanced over at him. “You two have to go home.”

“Home.” His eyes lit with amusement and love. “I like the sound of that.”

“Good.” I shot a glare at Primrose, hoping she would finally pay attention to my annoyance and concern over the fact my next appointment would show up any second.

“My grumpy alpha needs his space,” she whispered to Emelia, laughter in her eyes as she glanced over her shoulder at me.

“I have no wish to lose myjob,” I said, my voice stern, my inner thoughts telling her to obey me or else.

“You’ll be leaving Lockwood on your own soon, anyway,” Emelia said with a smile. “You don’t have anything to fear.” She glanced at my mates. “Some will not understand and judge who you’ve partnered with, but your reputation will not be ruined.” Her steady gaze returned to my face. “Your business will grow.”

Yessss.

While a few weeks prior I never would have trusted her mutterings or the voice inside me, my eyes had been opened to a truth far beyond what most of humanity would grasp, let alone consider to be true.

Shoulders relaxing slightly, I studied her for a moment longer, wondering how I hadn’t seen the resemblance between the two women before. Although her eyes were dark as coal while Primrose’s were golden brown, the same slant angled the corners. They both had high cheekbones, generous mouths, and thick hair with a natural wave and part on the right side.

Emelia stood a good five inches shorter than Primrose and didn’t have nearly the womanly curves as my female.

I cleared my throat and tipped my head toward the door. “Please go. I trust Emelia’s words about my future, but I’d rather not have to explain visitors who snuck in without passes,” I said, motioning at Primrose and Jaxon.

“I’ll come back to visit,” Primrose promised Emelia, hugging her tight.

“How about I help her get discharged instead,” I said as the thought entered my head, rising to my feet, “so I won’t have to worry myself sick over revealing what we are to the world?”

Jaxon pushed up from the floor where he’d been lounging and sauntered to Primrose’s side. “Let’s go, Prim. We got what we wanted.” Cocky boy winked at me. “And the promise of punishment.”
