TWO MONTHS LATER
We banked, flying low back the way we had come through the starlit night, our joy unspeakable, our dragon halves’ desire to roar in victory barely reined in. The energy of our mates rippled behind us with the same excitement, and we glanced over our shoulder, dragon sight allowing us a glimpse of midnight blue and shimmering blue-green scales and wings flapping haphazardly in an attempt to keep up with us.
We shot upward with a gracefulness our mates lacked, the rushing wind stretching our grin wider.
Show-off.Jaxon’s humanity grumbled through our bond while Patrick’s focus, his drive to succeed, honed his thoughts on staying in flight and not nose-diving into the ground like he’d done a half hour earlier.
Laughing internally, we spiraled down to earth, a flap of wings pulling us up before we smashed into rock. Our claws rested on the ledge in the Grand Canyon’s northern wilderness, where we had been visiting the previous couple of weeks to practice our mates’ shifting into their true forms.
We tracked my mates through the air as they banked and headed our way.
Gentle, we warned through our bond.
Jaxon’s beast landed—on his feet, pride and cockiness flickering through us, causing our own chest to swell.
Well done, beta.
He preened.
Patrick followed in a scatter of stones, his backside hitting the ground.
Jaxon’s and my humanity shared a snicker, but our amusement turned to purring as both of my mates’ dragons blanketed me, their long tongues lashing at my face. Need to release the adrenaline from their first flight flooded through our bond, and we obeyed our alpha without a word having to be spoken.
I shifted to human form, my hands on their scaled flanks. “Focus—allow your instincts to gift you what you desire.”
Jaxon did as told, his beast’s stubbornness over finally having been given freedom tofly, causing muscle and bone to shrink slowly.
And rather than listen to his female, Patrick’s dragon snaked his long, forked tongue between my thighs.
Wet.
“Mmm,” I agreed, widening my stance.
He licked my slit from ass to clit before dipping into my core with his long tongue, probing deep against my womb.
My knees went weak. “Need you, Patrick—please shift,” I whispered, grabbing hold of his scaled jowls.
Jaxon pressed against my back, his arms wrapping around my waist as a shuddered sigh rippled through him. “The things I do for you, woman.”
I chuckled, experiencing his disappointment at having to return to the earth and tuck those glorious wings beneath his skin.
Our alpha’s desire sent us both to the ground, Jaxon beneath me, my back tight against his chest. His hard cock lined my ass crack, and I scooted higher, needing him inside me.
Patrick struggled to take on his human form, his aggravation and desire to mate making it that much more difficult.
Relax, I told him.Focus on regaining your arms and legs, not my emptiness or Jaxon’s seed.
A huff of hot dragon breath, sweet as sugar yet full of brimstone and smoke, wafted over us both—and Jaxon slid me onto his shaft.
I arched against him, gasping at the sudden fullness. “Patrick,” I groaned, reaching for him.
His curses slid through my mind, but he appeared in human form a heartbeat later, longer hair mussed as though blown in the wind, eyes dark in the night but glowing with an inner blue light.
He crawled atop me on hands and knees, claiming my mouth, tongue sliding between my lips to curl with mine.
Jaxon moved in and out of me with slow, gyrating thrusts, causing my body to heat.
Breed, Patrick ordered through the bond as he had been doing on a daily basis—sometimes twice a day. As the alpha, he was driven to fulfill our destiny, and even though I had claimed I wanted to live for a while before being tied down with offspring, the deepest parts of me longed for the same as my mates.
