Jaxon had told me how Patrick had recently taken over for the previous doctor, but my alpha had yet to unpack or make the office his own, other than the nameplate on the door. No framed photographs, certificates, or awards hung on the walls like the other doctors’ offices I’d snuck through on my first visit to the hospital.
Files were stacked on his desk along with a blue-ink pen and a small clock. The attached bathroom held no personal items and smelled of bleach.
My skin pebbled a second before I felt him draw near. I chewed the inside of my lip as my heart thudded, and I glanced around, wondering where to stand—to uncloak or remain hidden or flee to protect my emotions.
No—stay.
We would succeed, I told myself, ears straining to hear his approach, muscles tightening in readiness to seduce the strongest human male I’d ever met.
The door snicked open, and my knees weakened as Patrick stepped into the office.
Dark-framed glasses hid his eyes as his head jerked side to side, lips thinning, brow furrowing. His nostrils flared as he audibly filled his lungs, pushing the door shut behind him.
“Fuck.” His head jerked my way—and stared directly at me as though I stood visible across the room, same as that night, concrete and fencing had separated me from Jaxon. Holding my gaze, Patrick moved around his office, tossed his cell phone on his desk, and sank into his chair. “You’re here, aren’t you, Primrose?”
“Yes,” I stated, unable to keep from answering my alpha.
The short whiskers of the trimmed beard along his jawline twitched. “Show yourself.”
I shimmered the cloaking ability off my body.
A strangled moan escaped his parted lips, his gaze sliding slowly over my nakedness. “Why do you do this to me?” The roughness of his voice sent a trickle of wetness down my inner thigh.
I whimpered but lifted my chin, meeting his gaze when it returned to my face. “Because you belong to me—to us. You are our fated alpha, the one meant to dominate, give pleasure, and accept our worship in return.”
Patrick’s inner dragon groaned, causing his frown to deepen.
Want.
Need.
Take.
Warmth flooded through me at the distinctive voice of my alpha’s beast whispering in my head. “I can hear him,” I said, stepping toward Patrick as his dragon continued to purr words of enticement to both of us. “I can feel that your desire aligns with his.”
And I would not be denied this time.
I grasped the arm of Patrick’s chair above where his fingers clenched in a white-knuckle grip and swiveled him toward me, our gazes locked. Darkness swirled in his eyes, the blue overrun by his pupils.
Pain, his dragon whispered.
Pleasure, mine responded, attempting to dismiss the negative thoughts.
I draped my body over my alpha’s knees, legs on one side, arms and head dangling on the other. “Put your hands on me like you want to,” I murmured, knowing he must smell my arousal. “Use me to ease your frustration and set us both free.”
Chapter 24
Patrick
This half of my temptation wasn’t forbidden in the same way as Jaxon being a former patient of mine, but she coaxed the darkness inside me to a strength I struggled to contain.
I needed to tell Primrose to leave—and never return. I wanted to fuck so deep into her body she forgot everything but the feel of me claiming what belonged to me. But her plump ass all up in my face…
“Fuck.” My hand released its grip on the chair’s arm, and the satiny skin across the back of her thighs warmed my palm, causing my throbbing dick to jerk inside my slacks.
I had hoped to get hold of Steven’s friend before meeting up with either Jaxon or Primrose again, but no such fucking luck.
I’d sensed Primrose as I had approached my office, had known she waited for me inside, but fuck if I could make my feet turn and take me away from a deep, instinctive urge to bow to insanity. Her sweet scent, like summer flowers, the delicious, juicy strawberry-like aroma of her arousal had flooded my nose, coated my mouth, and stiffened my dick sodamn fast I’d gone lightheaded while stepping through the door.
