“Dominik.” I drop my rifle and run to the man standing right next to Jakov, his pistol still pointed to where the man’s body now lies. I run into his arms and he instantly grabs me, his grasp so tight I can barely get a breath in. But I don’t care. I don’t care because he’s here. He’s here with me.
“Shhhh,” he whispers into my hair, and it’s now I realize I’m sobbing into his chest. “My sweet Nika, I’m here. I’m with you, my love.”
“Where is she?” I ask after a moment.
“Safe,” he says, and I have to trust his words. We have no idea who is hiding where, and I can’t allow them to know where Zora is. “Come home with me and let me clean you up, then I will take you to her.” I nod, hugging him again before walking with him out of the room.
“How did you know where to find me?” I ask as I towel dry my hair, my body more relaxed now after a desperately needed shower. I stand before Dominik as he sits on the edge of his bed, a freshly lit cigarette in his mouth.
“When I found out it was Jakov, I knew he could only be keeping you at one of two places. When you called, I heard people coming down stairs, and I know the other facility is a single story, so it was the obvious choice.” A small smile pulls at my lips while I make my way over to stand before him. I notice his attempt to continue our eye contact but it’s futile as my bare breasts hit him at eye level. Leaning in, I pluck the cigarette from his lips and put it to mine.
“Didn’t know I was married to a detective.” I muse while straddling his lap. “Good job solving the case there, Mr. Holmes.” His laugh is soft as he runs his hands over my naked hips.
“Married, huh? I thought you told me we could never speak of that. That you were only doing it in case you died and Zora needed to come to me.” His lips brush over my collarbone as I take a drag from the cigarette.
“I don’t want to make it to one hundred, Dominik,” I admit while handing him the stick to put in the ashtray. “I want out.” He nods softly while taking a breath.
“Nika, as dangerous as this has been, it’s nothing compared to what’s waiting outside your people. You are mostly feared and respected here. If we leave, you will have a target on your back forever. You will always be looking over your shoulder.”
“We can leave the country,” I say, trying to get him on board. “I-I hear Paris is nice. We could go there, or maybe America, they can’t reach us there.” His eyes look into mine and I feel the lump in my throat growing.
“They will want Kasapin,”
“Then they can find a new one!” I cry out while trying to get up. Dominik pins me to him before rolling us on the bed, me landing beneath him. “Let me go!” I shout as he grips my wrist above my head.
“Hush,” he states, his voice low. “You want out? Baby, you know I’ll make it happen. I’m with you, my love. I just want to make sure you’re ready to make all the sacrifices you’re going to have to make. The money, the protection, the power—it will all be gone, and for what?”
“For freedom,” I whisper. “So our daughter can play outside. So she can grow up and not have to worry about being targeted. So that there will come a day that Kasapin is nothing but a legend, a story. Please, Dominik, I’ve never begged you for anything our entire lives—”
“And you won’t start now,” he says sharply as his lips capture mine. “Your wish is my command, my queen.” I release a moan as his hand cups me in between my legs.
“Dominik,” I breathe out as he inserts a finger into me, followed by a second. “I love you.”
“And I love you, Nika. Never forget that. I will do anything for you.” I quickly unbutton his pants and pull his shirt free. He removes it swiftly before returning his fingers to my center as I reach into his pants and pull out his growing erection.
“Fuck,” he hisses weakly as I stroke his shaft. “Nika, I might actually die if I’m not inside you in the next five seconds.” I give him a light chuckle while spreading my legs further apart.
“Well, we can’t have that,” I purr while running my tongue over his lips as he angles himself at my center before sliding inside. We both let out a needy moan as he fills me completely. I squeeze my walls around his cock as he begins to rock against me. I wait for his speed to pick up. For the rough, fast fucking we are both known for to begin. But it doesn’t. Dominik is slow and deliberate with every thrust. His eyes never leave mine and it’salmost too much. No, itistoo much. It’s too much because this is different, this is him trying to tell me something that his mouth won’t.
“Dominik,” I choke out, feeling the ache building in my chest. “Dom—”
“Hush, baby,” he whispers, a sob caught in his throat. “I’m with you, always.” His lips consume mine and we don’t break for air until our climaxes hit. And when they do, instead of screaming his name to God, I sob it in heartache as he kisses my lips, my cheeks, my nose.
“I love you,” he whispers over and over again, each time sounding more desperate than the last. “I love you forever, Nika.”

NIKA
Ilook at the two passports through scratchy, irritated eyes. Two, not three.
“Once on the train,” Dominik states, his voice devoid of any emotion, “go to cabin twenty. There will be an elderly woman there. Tell her you’re looking to buy a flower and give her this.” He hands me what feels like an envelope of money. “She will take you to where Zora is hiding. You two get off that train and there will be a driver ready to take you to the airport.”
“Dominik,” I whisper weakly. “Please, come with us.” I grab his hand while falling to my knees. “I beg of you, don’t stay here.” His hand cups my cheek as he pulls me back to my feet.
“I can’t, my love. They need Kasapin, and if I don’t step in, someone who could find you will. This is the only way I can keep you both safe.”
“You don’t deserve this!” I cry while hitting his chest. “You deserve—”
