“Great, this is for you.” He handed over the bag with a polite nod before turning and heading out.
I grinned, thinking it was Emir but then my mind went to last night and I froze staring down at the order.
What if this was him and not Emri…
A few seconds later my phone vibrated with a text that allowed me to relax.
Emir: Eat. I know you’ve been busy all day and haven’t thought about it.
I was cheesing like a damn idiot. I bit my lip, smiling as I typed back:
Me: I have, thank you.
Emir: I always got you. Now eat.
I smiled, locking my phone and setting it aside. Of course he knew I hadn’t stopped to eat and handled it without asking.
That was just him and I really, really appreciated it. I pulled the sushi out, grabbed my chopsticks, and enjoyed the meal. Halfway through my lunch, my phone rang.
I swiped to answer, already bracing myself.
“Good afternoon, ma’am,” I greeted, popping a piece of sushi into my mouth.
“Okay, don’t be cute. I’m checking in on you.”
I swallowed my bite, wiping my fingers on a napkin. “I’m fine, Rach.”
“Mmhmm,” she hummed, unconvinced. “You sure? Because that shit last night was weird, friend.”
I sighed, leaning back in my chair. “Yeah, I know.”
She was silent for a minute before asking, “Where did you end up going after you dropped me off?”
I paused for a minute but she was going to figure it out anyway.
“…I stayed with Emir.”
Dead silence and then…
“Yes, friend. Let that man make it all better.”
I groaned. “I knew you were gonna react like this.”
“Hell yeah I am because I love this for us.”
“For us?”
“Yes, us friend. I’m living vicariously through you for now. Let that man beoursafe space while delivering phenomenal dick.”
I grabbed another piece of California roll. “It wasn’t like that. I just didn’t want to be alone.”
“I get that. I would’ve come over, though, you know that.” She confirmed.
“I know. But Emir handled it.”
And he was who I wanted to be with…
“Alright. Love you friend. As long as you’re good I’m good.”
