“I am.” My words lacked confidence because I was still thinking about the fact that someone was stalking me.
“What’s up Bay, you sound weird like you’re not telling me something.”
I froze.
Rachelle knew me too well. I bit my lip, debating what to say. She didn’t know who Emir truly was, and until I talked to him, I wasn’t sure how much I should tell her.
So I kept it vague.
“Last night was just weird but It’s being taken care of,” I assured her.
“I don’t like that answer.”
I sighed. “I’ll explain more when I can. Just trust me.”
Another pause.
“…Fine,” she relented. “But. I have one condition.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Which is?”
“I need to meet this man.Soon.”
“Why?”
“Because, friend. I need to see for myself that he’s got you. That he’s really keeping you safe because I can’t be out here slipping letting the opps have access without my knowledge.”
Rachelle was joking but I also knew she meant it. She wanted to know if the man I was falling for was really going to be there for me and honestly, I wanted to know that too.
“Okay, soon. I promise.”
“Good. Now, tell me why you sound all dreamy and cute.”
I laughed, grabbing my drink. “How the fuck does someone sound dreamy and cute. Goodbye, Rachelle.”
“No, wait, I need more?—”
I hung up, still grinning, but before I could set my phone down I remembered there was something else. If there wasanyone who would be just as excited as me about what Tae had said, it was Rachelle.
I quickly hit redial and she answered almost immediately. “Don’t call me back after you hung up on me gatekeeping our happiness withourman?”
I was already smiling. “Shut up. I forgot to tell you something.”
“About our man?”
I groaned. “No, Rachelle, damn.”
“Okay fine. What is it?”
I took a breath, revisiting the conversation I just had with Tae and then I said it out loud.
“Tae is going to help me start my business.”
“Oh shit, seriously?”
“Yep.” I nodded as she shrieked so loudly I had to pull the phone away from my ear.
“Yesssss, friend!” she hollered. “You’re actually doing it? Vibe & Vision is happening?”
