I bit my lip, grinning. “Yeah. It’s happening.”

“I knew you were meant for this!” she said, clapping dramatically. “I need you to understand that the way you’re about to kill the game will be unmatched. The industry ain’t even ready for my, girl.”

My chest was heavy with the reality of what was coming. As much as I wanted this I understood the work which would be attached.Mybusiness meant everything would be solely on me.

“Rach, I’m still overwhelmed. It’s a lot to take in.”

“Oh, I know, but trust me, friend, this is your moment. I’m so damn proud of you! You’ve been putting in the work, grinding for years with Tae, and now it’s time for you to do your own thing.”

Her excitement was contagious and my confidence growing.

“You really believe I can do this?” I asked, even though I already knew her answer.

She scoffed. “Baylyn. I don’tthink, I know you can and you know it too.”

My heart was light and full but I was still scared as shit. Regardless, I was doing this.

Rachelle wasn’t just my best friend; she was my biggest hype woman, my day one, and hearing her hype me up like this was exactly what I needed.

“I love you, friend.”

“I love you more! Now listen, we’re celebrating this weekend. No excuses.”

“Fine. We’ll celebrate.”

“Damn right we will. Now go be a boss and change the world, babe.”

I shook my head, still grinning. “I’ll talk to you later, Rach.”

“Later, CEO!”

She hung up and I sat there for a moment, holding onto this feeling.

I stood in my brother’s office, arms crossed, jaw locked tightly, watching as he worked through screen after screen of nothing.

Trent had disappeared. No visuals. No active devices. Not one digital footprint in the last couple weeks.

Just fucking gone.

Yair was leaned forward with his fingers moving over the keyboard focused as hell but also just as frustrated.

“He’s off the grid, Mir.” His voice was flat, but I could hear the edge behind it. “Nothing’s pinging. His phone, tablet, not even a damn watch.”

We had access to all his shit and had been searching it for the past couple hours but still had nothing. I dropped onto the sofa that lined one side of his office.

“Then he’s been planning this. This isn’t a random disappearance. He’s been flying under the radar on purpose and that is pissing me the fuck off.”

Yair nodded and his eyes were narrowed as he stared at the blank tracking data. “Yeah. And if he’s been this quiet for this long, it’s because he’s setting up for something.”

“Setting up to come for me.” My jaw locked tight and I yanked on my beard in frustration.
