“It’s okay, little one. This is nothing, I promise.”

I exhaled shakily. He should know. He’d flown through much worse—but in my defense, he’d jumped out of big cargo planes in Airborne, not a sleek little private jet.

“Maybe we should blast some of your old running cadences from the Army,” I joked, managing a weak smirk. There was something about flying, man. I loved it as much as I hated it. “On that note, can I sleep with a parachute on?”

He chuckled and dropped a kiss to the top of my head. “That doesn’t sound comfortable.” He stole my Push Pop from me too, and I stuck out my tongue at him. “Oh, there’s that cute little tongue I was going to steal.”

Eeep! No, it was mine!

“Did he respond yet?” He walked over to the mini fridge and grabbed a bottle of water.

“Yes, Sir!” I opened the message, and Daddy joined me to read it.

What’s there for him to prepare for that I haven’t already told him? He’ll be in a public area in Tysons. He will do absolutely nothing aside from being visible. He can stand there and fiddle with his phone. And for the fucking record, big brother, my authority supersedes yours. Now calm your damn tits and get some sleep. I’ll board the jet the moment you land in the morning, and we’ll go to Tysons from there.

“Ooooh, Chris put his footdown,” I commented.

Daddy frowned and straightened up. “He’s still an asshole. He sure as fuck didn’t tell us before that this is taking place in Tysons. He didnotinform us that he’s boarding the jet when we land. He could’ve mentioned that earlier, and everything would’ve been fine.” He shook his head and walked over to my bag, and he dug out my toiletry kit. “Let’s go brush our teeth. We can reply to Mr. Authority later. Or not.”

I pinched my lips together and withheld my amusement, ’cause now wasn’t the time. But Daddy had pulled the authority card first…

I knew he was just being protective of me.

I left my seat and walked over to him, and I reached up and kissed his cheek. “You’re the best Daddy in the whole world.”

He looked a little surprised at first, but then he squeezed me to him and kissed my forehead. “Thank you for saying that, but unfortunately, I owe that asshole half an apology. I know very well that he can’t divulge too much. Information is sensitive in his line of work, and he’s being careful.”

I peered up at him. What he said made sense.

“I could’ve reassured you until he took over,” he added.

“But only half an apology, then?” I asked.

His mouth twitched. “I’m not going to admit to being irrationally overprotective of you.”

I grinned.

I woke up a few hours later, and I missed Daddy terribly. I’d already become accustomed to sharing a bed with him, and now he was a full four feet away from me on the other side of the aisle.

The back of the plane had four seats that were two by two, but they weren’t as comfortable when reclined, and that was where the doggies currently slept.

I yawned and rubbed my eyes before I glanced out the window.

The sun was up, but I had no idea where we were. Hopefully approaching the East Coast. I didn’t know where the time zones changed either.

Crawling out from under my covers, I snuck over to Daddy’s bed. His covers were twisted around his hips. No nakedness tonight. He was in boxer briefs and a black T-shirt.

Fingers crossed one of the pilots didn’t need to use the bathroom or grab coffee in the next fifteen minutes. I’d met them briefly last night, and both were pilots and operators at Hillcroft.

Hoping the bottom section of the chair would hold my weight too, I carefully straddled Daddy’s legs and tugged down the covers.

He let out a low, rumbly, sleepy sound and stretched out a bit, and then he cracked his eyes open and peered down at me.

“Morning, Daddy.” I brushed my hand over his underwear. He was semi-hard under there, so it was of the utmost importance that I got my mouth on that thing ASAP.

He smiled drowsily and pulled up one leg a bit, and I took the hint. I shifted my leg so I was straddling just one of his, and that way, he wasn’t trapped.

“Good morning. Are you on a mission?”
