I pulled Lyric back and kissed her temple. “Nah, we not doing that, baby. Don’t ever let someone who could never be you make you stoop to their level.” I kissed her lips, then turned to face ol’ girl. “We didn’t leave off anywhere. I entertained you because you talked to me first. You may be smart, and hell, you’re pretty, but you are the type that think you can get any man you want. I might have fucked you, but that would have been it. Now, my lady and I are trying to enjoy our day. You should do the same.” With that, I grabbed Lyric’s hand and stepped around the chick, leaving her standing on the sidewalk looking stupid.
“Well damn. Thank you for pulling me back, because things could have gotten ugly.”
“I won’t allow you to jeopardize everything you worked for, for anybody. What’s her beef about anyway?”
We’d been out for hours, and I was getting tired of walking. I was sure Lyric was, too, but she hadn’t said anything. Whenever she was ready to call it a day, we would.
“I got the position she wanted. She never said anything out of the way at work, but I know she doesn’t like me. She’s always rolling her eyes and sucking her teeth whenever I give her an assignment or any direction. She’s good at her job, but her attitude sucks.”
“Well, if she ever causes you any problems, let me know, and I’ll handle it.”
Lyric stopped walking and faced me. She wrapped her arms around my neck. I looked down at her and moved a strand ofhair from her face. Her ponytail had gotten a little disheveled from trying on clothes for hours, so there were a few loose strands.
“I appreciate you. Not just for stopping me, but also for this whole day. Before the day is over, I want your dick in my mouth while I hang off the side of the bed.”
My shit bricked when she said that, and the determined look in her eyes let me know she was serious. She didn’t know I already had plans for us to spend the night together in my room.
“Shit, you ready to go back to the room now?” I gripped a handful of her ass. I didn’t care who saw us. Public affection never bothered me.
Lyric threw her head back and laughed. “Not yet. We have one more store to go to.”
I placed soft kisses on her exposed neck. She giggled and tried to move away, but I held on to her.
“You got that. Just don’t forget what you said.”
“I won’t. Oh, and don’t think I missed when you called me your lady.”
I pulled Lyric into me and wrapped my arms around her waist. “I know. It’s not something that has to be discussed right now, but we will soon.” I released her and grabbed her hand. “Let’s finish shopping.”
Spendingthe day with Chauncey had been everything I didn’t realize I needed. It was perfect, even when Addie’s ass tried to ruin it. She and I were cordial to each other at work, because we had to be, but she never hid her dislike of me. She was good at her job, so I didn’t pay her any mind. If I were a shady person, I could have gotten her fired, but I was never one to mess with a person’s livelihood over something so trivial. Her beef was on her, not me. It wasn’t my fault that I got the position she wanted. If she were that mad about it, she could have left, but I knew she wouldn’t. She wouldn’t find another company that paid as much as Tech Angels did, and she for sure wouldn’t be treated as well. Some men in the tech world didn’t respect black women on the same level or even higher than them.
Once we walked away from her, I pushed her out of my mind and focused on the good time I had. I tried to fight Chauncey about paying for my own stuff, but he put me in my place. It was hard for me to relinquish my control, but Chauncey made it easy. Chauncey had that big dick energy and knew how to back it up.
After our run-in with Addie, we went to another store before we returned to the hotel.
“The day isn’t over,” Chauncey informed me as we waited for the elevator.
“Is that right? What else do you have planned?” The elevator door opened, and as soon as the door closed, Chauncey pushed me against the wall. I heard the bags hit the floor.
He held the back of my neck and my face close to his. “A lot of shit.”
My body warmed when he leaned down and kissed me. I moaned when his tongue entered my mouth, at the same time he snaked his hand into my shorts.
He used his thumb to rub circles on my clit. Wet kissing sounds filled the elevator while my moans continued. I wound my hips when Chauncey slipped a finger through my wetness. I didn’t know if anyone could see us on the camera, but I didn’t care. His caress alone felt so damn good. I gripped his hand when I felt my orgasm approaching.
We continued kissing as my body convulsed. Through all the exchanged looks and subtle touches, I couldn’t wait for this moment. I didn’t expect anything to happen on the elevator, but I needed his hands on me all damn day.
When the elevator stopped, he removed his fingers from my shorts and licked them clean.
Chauncey picked up the bags and smirked at me. I fixed my clothes and walked off the elevator. My legs were a little wobbly, and I heard Chauncey laugh behind me.
I flipped him the bird but stopped because I wasn’t sure which room was his.
“Don’t know where to go, do you?” he teased when he came up behind me. He pulled his key card out. “Luckily, you stopped right in time.” The lock beeped when he held the card up to the door. “Go in.” He motioned with his head.
I stepped inside the room but immediately stopped when I looked around. I heard the door close behind me, and I heard Chauncey place my bags down.
The room smelled like lavender and jasmine. I wasn’t sure if it was from the multiple candles spread around the room or from something else. Either way, it smelled good and instantly relaxed me. Different shades of green silk petals littered the floor.
