“Morning.” He closes the laptop and gets up. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you.”
“It’s fine. I wasn’t necessarily loud.”
He cups my cheek, and I tilt my head to see him better. His stubble has grown darker on his jaw, and dark circles surround his eyes.
“Did you sleep well?”
“I feel like I should be asking you that question.” I glance at the laptop. “You were up early this morning again.”
“I don’t really sleep that much.”
“I can see that.”
I feel like there’s something else that he isn’t telling me, but I don’t know if I should ask. Do I have the right to pry? Yes, we are… together, but does that mean we’re togethertogether? Do I want us to be? Better yet, am Ireadyfor it? It feels so soon. I barely got my divorce papers a few weeks ago, but it feels like a lifetime has passed.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” I ask tentatively. “If you don’t want me to sleep over?—”
His hands grab my hips and pull me into his body as his kiss stops me from finishing the question. I rest my hands on his chest, gripping his shirt, and holding him to me. Chase lets out a low groan as his tongue slides into my mouth, and my body connects with his, the hard line of his dick pressing into my belly.
This thing between us is like a fire, and the moment we connect, the flame ignites higher. No matter how many times hekisses me or touches me, it’s never enough. Is it because it’s so new? Or will it always be like this? This exhilarating? This wild? This untamed?
Our breathing is ragged as we pull apart, Chase’s forehead pressing into mine. “I like knowing you’re sleeping in my bed.” He lifts his hand, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “I’m a light sleeper, and I didn’t want to wake you up.”
I nod, nibbling at my lower lip. Chase’s gaze falls to my mouth, his hazel eyes smoldering as his thumb skims over my lower lip. “I made coffee.”
“Mm-hmm… I could use some coffee. Since somebody kept me up all night.”
“Did they?” Chase pulls back his hand, fingers wrapping around mine as we make our way to the kitchen. I start to go for the coffee pot, but Chase tugs me back and lifts me onto the counter. “You need me to have a talk with them?”
I watch him move around the kitchen. He pulls a fresh mug from the cupboard and pours me coffee, adding sugar and creamer. My legs spread wider as he settles between them, handing me the mug.
“No, I think I’m good.”
I take a sip, just as his hands fall on my thighs, his fingers clenching around the soft flesh. “You sure? I can kick his ass for you if you want. Teach him some manners.”
“Oh, I’m sure. I love it when he keeps me up.”
A guttural groan comes from Chase and goes straight to my core. The wild look in his eyes makes me squirm in my seat. I’m feeling sore, but damn it, you won’t hear me protest if he’s game for another round.
“Sweetheart…”
There’s a warning note in his low baritone that makes goosebumps appear on my flesh. I like that he’s just as insatiable for me as I’m for him.
Putting my coffee on the side, I slide my finger under the dog tags hanging around his neck and pull him to me, but just as our mouths fuse together, my stomach decides to rumble.Loudly.
Chase grumbles something against my mouth, pulling back. I try to protest, but he’s having none of it.
“Food first.”
I purse my lips. “You’re no fun.”
He pulls me to him, his cock rubbing against my clit in the most torturous way ever as he helps me slide down the counter. “Maybe, but I don’t want you to be hungry.”
“Eating is overrated,” I huff, slipping past him to the fridge, only his hand connects to my ass. The slap is gentle, but I can feel the sting all the way to my core. My lips part as I glance over my shoulder to find those serious eyes locked on me.
“Behave.”
I blink my eyes innocently. “And if I don’t?”
