I threw the blanket off of my shoulders and crawled into his lap. There were no words that would ever do what I felt for this man, justice. The only thing I could do was touch my mouth to his and hope that my kiss would convey what I was unable to voice.
Chapter 32
With her mouth over mine, Kenzie breathed life into my lungs. Every bold stroke of her tongue filled my heart with love and had want spreading through my entire body. With my fingers splayed on the bare skin of her back, I marveled in the feel of its softness.
I moved my mouth to her ear before I planted a trail of kisses down the slender column of her throat. She threw her head back, and gave me better access. I took my time kissing and nibbling on her skin when all I wanted to do was yank her beneath me and claim her properly.
The little needy whimpers sounding from her wasn't helping my resolve much. I hooked my fingers beneath her bra straps and slid them down as far as they would go. My lips close behind. As I inhaled her, my senses were assaulted in the best way possible. She was breathtakingly intoxicating.
As much as I liked Kenzie's hips rocking into my lap, I wanted her sprawled out on my bed where I could love on every inch of her body. I gathered her close to me and walked us to the bedroom without removing my lips from her skin. We were chest-to-chest, the erratic rhythm of her heart matching my own.
I lowered her to the bed, her eyes a deep shade of navy and her whole body beckoning me. The bed dipped under my weight as I first placed one knee and then the other on either side of her. Kenzie's hand disappeared between her breasts, and a second later the silk and lace that covered them fell away.
My fingers twitched, and I pulled my lip between my teeth to stop myself from ravishing her like the ravenous beast I was. "Oh, Sweetheart, I'm going to devour you."
She sucked her bottom lip into her mouth, and I descended, taking her mouth in a rough kiss. Kenzie's hands slid over my arms and her back arched, her body begging to be touched, to be loved.
Who was I to deny the request?
I ached, painfully so. Still, I took my time as I thoroughly loved on the newly exposed skin. Beneath me, my girl had turned into a moaning, writhing bundle of bones. Man, it was the most beautiful sight. Torturously slow, I unsnapped the button of her jeans and pulled them down her legs.
I threw the fabric over my shoulder and caught a glimpse of blue. My fingers found the tiny insect first, tracing every detail before I stooped and pressed my lips to it. Then my mouth was on the move again, kissing and tasting until neither one of us could stand it anymore.
The rest of our clothes were shed, and I came down over her, not just connecting us physically but intimately too. Our bodies danced to the same rhythm, every movement anchoring her deeper in my heart. Every cell in my body screamed:I need you, I love you.
I was right there on the edge preparing to free fall into ecstasy when Kenzie grabbed my face, looked me dead in the eye and whispered, "I love you, Brett." Her breathless confession was the push I needed, and as I dived over the edge, I pulled her with me.
Catching my breath, I collapsed onto the sheets next to her and immediately gathered her in my arms. The warmth of her breaths fanned my chest.
A satisfied tiredness seeped into my bones. "I'm exhausted, but I'm afraid if I go to sleep I'll wake up and find this was all a dream," I softly admitted against her hair.
Kenzie lifted her head. The sated look on her face along with the love shining in her eyes nearly did me in. "This," she waved her finger between us. "You and me, we are the dream. My dream." She wiggled until she could plant a kiss on my mouth. "Tell me you'll always be mine?"
A lump formed in my throat. She remembers. I swallowed it down. "Forever," I vowed against her lips. "I'll love you forever, Kenzie."
The warmth of the rays filtering in through the slits in the blinds breezed over my face, my smile still firmly in place. We'd managed to sleep for all of two hours before we woke up and made love all over again. We had years of catching up to do, and I couldn't wait.
I opened my eyes and looked at Kenzie's sleeping form next to me; half tempted to slide down her body and give her a proper wake-up call. Instead, I brushed a few strands from her face and dropped a kiss to her forehead.
She stirred at the contact, her lids fluttering open revealing those beautiful eyes in which I saw my future. Her groggy, "Hi," possibly one of my favorite sounds.
"Hey, Sweetheart,"
Kenzie pushed into a seated position, hugging the sheet to her chest. Her tongue snaked over her lips, and a million wild thoughts ran through my mind, but it was the look in her eyes that made me not act on any of them.
I slipped my fingers into her hair and brushed my mouth over hers in a quick kiss. "What's going on in that head of yours?"
She snuggled into my chest and began tracing the lines of my tattoo. "I really haven't thought any further than coming here." She sneaked a peek at me and scrunched up her nose, "I'm kinda out of a job."
"You are?"
Kenzie blew out a breath. "Yeah," she pushed back into a seated position. "I confronted my parents over the letters, and things just blew up."
Panic rose in my chest, as much as I loved her, I didn't want our relationship to sever hers with her parents. "Sweetheart, if you did this so we could be together, you need to know that I will pack up and leave with you right now."
She studied me for a moment before she touched her palm to my cheek, "Always so selfless." With a shake of her head, she withdrew her hand and tucked her hair behind her ear. "I need to do this. I want to find out what I'm passionate about—" her luscious lips curled into a smile, "—besides you, of course."
The woman sitting in front of me completely stole my breath. My chest filled with pride and my heart overflowed with love, all for this incredible person that was mine.
