Those piercing blue irises of his turned a few shades darker. He lifted the hat off my head and secured it back on his before lowering his mouth to mine. When only a mere whisper stood between me and the kiss I craved, he murmured against my lips, "This usually happens once every three months. Stick around and you might get to see me in action again."
Before my brain could properly process the meaning behind his words, his mouth closed over mine in a kiss so passionate it made my toes curl. His hand came up to cradle the back of my neck as he pulled me even deeper into his embrace.
The kiss soon went from slow and gentle to wet and hot. He was kissing me like he was a starved man and I was the only one who could satisfy his craving. My fingers curled around those thick biceps, my nails biting into his skin.
A strangled groan vibrated through him as he pulled back slightly eliciting a whimpered protest from the back of my throat. "I could happily spend the rest of the day kissing you senseless," he confessed on a ragged breath.
"That idea doesn't sound half bad." I smoothed my palms up and over his broad shoulders.
"Yeah, but then I'd have to do my chores tonight and that simply won't do since I've got big plans." There was no way I could miss the promise in his voice.
"What kind of big plans?"
Bradley tucked a wisp of hair behind my ear, his eyes tracking the movement. "It involves you, me, and a secluded cabin not far from here." When his heated stare collided with mine again, a delicious shiver ran down my spine. "Meet me at the barn at about six?"
"It's a date." The second I blurted out the words, I wanted to shove them back down my throat until I caught sight of his mouth stretching into a wide smile that went all the way to his eyes.
"Yes. It is, sweetness."
He leaned in for another bone-melting kiss before taking my hand and walking toward the barn. As we went about the day's tasks, it was impossible not to grasp onto that little blossom of hope and allow it entry into the dark crevices of my heart.
