Pushing my body deeper into her, I brought my free hand up to tangle my fingers in her silky tresses. Her nails bit into my skin as our tongues duelled, explored, tasted. Sending my senses into overdrive; heightened to their max.
This kiss—this woman—was all-consuming, driving me to the brink of insanity before pulling me back and doing it again. I was fairly certain there wasn't space for a breath between us, still, I tried to pull her closer.
Somewhere at the back of my mind, the fact that we were making out in a very public, very open parking lot registered. I didn't give two shits, though. The only thing I cared about was how perfectly she fit against me. How sinfully delicious she tasted. And how she was giving me as good as she was getting, but it wasn't enough.
I could honestly tell you that a single kiss had never affected me in such a profound way before. It should've scared me, but I was too wrapped up in everything Hailey to pay attention to anything else.
My body ached to explore every inch of hers in the most intimate way. To get as close as two people could. Without thinking, I bent my knees and was about to grind my hips against hers when a voice sounded behind me.
"Uh…I'll just come back later."
Freaking Jeremy and his shit timing. With a lot of reluctance, I tore my mouth away from Hailey's. Irritation had curses spilling from my lips almost immediately. Even though he said he'd be back later, I still felt Jeremy's presence behind us.
Instead of acknowledging him, the woman before me remained the sole focus of my attention. Shit, she was so damn beautiful. Desire still burning bright in her eyes. Her parted lips swollen and wet from my kiss.
My hand slipped from her hair so I could drag my thumb along her lush bottom lip. Her gaze flicked past my shoulder, to where I presumed Jeremy was standing. I heard her little gasp right before her eyes widened and red stained her cheeks.
Was it stupid to hope she'd been so lost in our kiss she hadn't even heard him? In my arms, her body stiffened. It wasn't hard to tell she was uncomfortable. That's why when she pulled away and headed for the front of the truck, I made no move to stop her.
Planting my hands on my hips, I dropped my chin to my chest and released a frustrated breath. As irritated as I was with the guy, it was probably a good thing he showed up when he did.
After another exhale, I spun around. Sure enough, Jeremy was standing there; his eyes darting from the front of the truck to me. "You ready to leave?" The words came out clipped; my pissiness evident in my tone.
He sneaked another glance at the truck. "Uhm…yeah, sure."
"Good." With that, I marched to the driver side door, yanked it open with a lot more force than was necessary before sliding in behind the wheel. Every bit of infuriation coursing through my veins melted away the instant my gaze landed on Hailey.
With her lip trapped between her teeth, she was looking at me like I was something wonderful. Those big, green depths of hers didn't hold a single ounce of regret. Trust me, I'd searched for it.
Her cheeks were still rosy, and I wasn't sure if it was because of our little make-out session or embarrassment. Her lips twitched for a beat before a full-blown smile stretched across her gorgeous face. It was so infectious; I couldn't help but return it.
Our eyes met and locked and pretty soon, the rest of the world simply melted away. I rubbed my fingers together; the feel of her still branded onto my skin. Her taste still lingering on my lips. Helpless to stop it, my body gave in to her magnetic pull and I started to lean toward her.
Before I could dive in for another sample, the slam of the rear door broke the connection we had. Hailey jumped on the spot and immediately brought her hand up to cover her laugh.
Shaking my head, I shifted in my seat so I could turn the key in the ignition and get us the hell home. Maybe if I was lucky, I'd be able to steal her away so we could finish what we started.
